Inside the Role The District Parts Manager (DPM) provides dealers and distributors with aftermarket parts management support in the areas of parts sales, customer service, and business performance. DPMs provide market analysis service to assist dealer/distributors in the development and execution of effective aftermarket parts marketing plans to realize both their marketing and financial goals in part sales. Marketing plans should incorporate a sound understanding of product lines, supply chain, inventory management, merchandising, and DTNA sales/marketing programs. DPMs conduct financial analysis of dealer parts business and make recommendations for improvements in acquisition cost, inventory strategy, and product line offerings. DPMs regularly meet with end customers along with dealer sales/service personnel. They analyze customer needs to determine appropriate part sales strategies to win new business while defending existing business from competitors. DPMs elevate dealer/distributor sales effectiveness by deploying current DTNA sales programs. Work closely with DPM’s in abutting regions to support dealer groups with AOR’s that cross regional boundaries. Initiate innovative methods of changing dealer behavior to meet national aftermarket standards of parts performance, which insure a consistent, well-balanced package of services to support truck customers. Establish harmonious relationship with Dealer/Distributor Principal and Parts Manager to enhance acceptance of corporate programs and aftermarket performance standards. Work closely with Dealer Principal to maintain total dealer commitment to aftermarket parts objectives by closely involving him/her with Parts Manager's performance. Provide headquarters staff with ongoing field intelligence on program effectiveness, training requirements, market trends, end-customer behavior, and competitive activities. Assist dealer personnel in the development of an annual business plan for parts. Actively promote and assist dealer parts sales efforts on a regular basis. Initiate the development of sales and merchandising programs on dealer-level which are consistent with national standards and corporate guidelines. Actively promote and support headquarters training programs and deliver personalized, on-site training. Provide training and liaison between headquarters IT staff and dealer personnel as required. Serve as technical consultant concerning all company and dealer/distributor related systems activities. Knowledge You Should Bring Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree Superior Analytical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Ability to travel approximately 40%-60% Exceptional Candidates Might Have 4+ years of OEM aftermarket experience preferred Values and practices 2-way communication, and is willing and able to provide guidance and business perspective to dealers in AOR Identify and understands aftermarket dealer and customer economic drivers, and act on them in order to drive DTNA sales.
