Job snapshot Healthcare 21 is a leading supplier of medical, diagnostic and critical care equipment across the UK and Ireland, supporting healthcare providers with specialist technologies and associated clinical solutions. As a Field Service Engineer, you will predominantly work within the product branch identified above, either X-Ray or Critical Care, and will develop and maintain the specialist competence required for that area. HC21 supports a broad and evolving portfolio of medical equipment. To meet custom-er and operational needs, you will also be expected to work across other HC21 equipment and product areas where required, provided that the appropriate manufacturer, technical and safety training has been completed and you have been assessed as competent to undertake the work. You will carry out installation, preventative maintenance, calibration, fault diagnosis and repair activities to support safe equipment performance, compliance and uptime. The role requires a professional, proactive and customer-focused approach, strong technical capability and confidence when working in clinically sensitive environments. Key Responsibilities & Competencies: Field Service, Maintenance & Repair Carry out installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, calibration, fault diagnosis and repair on equipment for which you have received appropriate training and been assessed as competent. Provide primary technical support for your predominant product branch while developing the skills required to support the wider HC21 equipment portfolio. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work to minimise disruption to clinical services. Provide first-line diagnostics and technical support by telephone, remote access or customer liaison where appropriate. Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions, approved training, company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Technical Standards, Quality & Documentation Complete service reports, calibration records and other required documentation accurately and within agreed timescales. Record all service activity using approved company systems and digital platforms. Maintain accountable stock levels of spare parts, test equipment, specialist tools and other company assets. Follow electrical safety, radiation safety, infection prevention and other relevant clinical or technical requirements as applicable to the equipment being serviced. Support quality, audit, KPI and continuous-improvement processes, and promptly report technical, safety or compliance concerns. Represent HC21 professionally and positively at all times. Build effective working relationships with customers, clinical teams, biomedical engineering teams, colleagues, manufacturers and other stakeholders. Communicate clearly, manage expectations and keep customers appropriately informed throughout service activity. Work collaboratively across the unified HC21 service team to meet contractual commitments and provide effective national coverage. Share knowledge and support colleagues across product branches, within the limits of your training and competence. Customer Service & Teamwork Represent HC21 professionally and positively at all times. Build effective working relationships with customers, clinical teams, biomedical engineering teams, colleagues, manufacturers and other stakeholders. Communicate clearly, manage expectations and keep customers appropriately informed throughout service activity. Work collaboratively across the unified HC21 service team to meet contractual commitments and provide effective national coverage. Share knowledge and support colleagues across product branches, within the limits of your training and competence. Flexible Working & Development Undertake ongoing manufacturer, technical, product, safety and company training as required. Support changing service demands, including reasonable travel, occasional overnight stays, varied working days and short-notice job allocations. Participate in on-call, out-of-hours or escalation arrangements where required by the role. Attend training within the UK or overseas where required. Work from home where appropriate to complete administration, remote support or online training duties. Key Requirements HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in electronics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Field service experience within medical equipment or a related technical environment is preferred. Strong diagnostic capability across electrical, electronic, mechanical, IT and software-controlled systems. Willingness and ability to learn new equipment types and work across the wider HC21 portfolio following appropriate training and competency assessment. Competent IT user, comfortable with laptops, diagnostic software and digital service platforms. Ability to work independently, manage priorities and make sound decisions in clinically sensitive environments. Customer-focused, organised, adaptable, resilient and solutions-driven. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the assigned territory and elsewhere in the UK and Ireland when required. DBS clearance, or the ability to obtain it. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility aligned to service requirements . What are some of the benefits of working at Xograph?
