Revere Control Systems provides automation, control, and integration services for municipal and industrial customers throughout the Southeast. Revere technicians support critical infrastructure systems through field service, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation support services. The job: Revere Control Systems is seeking a Field Service Technician to support municipal utility operations throughout Polk County, Florida. This position provides hands-on technical support for instrumentation and controls related equipment across a large and diverse utility infrastructure network. Revere Control Systems is seeking a Field Service Technician to support Polk County Utilities Instrumentation Division. This position is focused primarily on field instrumentation, 4-20 mA signal loops, control troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and reliability of currently installed public utility equipment. This is an instrumentation-first field service role. Most of the day-to-day work is expected to involve transmitters, level devices, flow meters, analytical instruments, signal wiring, PLC I/O, and SCADA indication. PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, electrical troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication are important supporting field service skills. The role primarily based within Polk County, with daily travel throughout the county expected as part of normal operations. Technicians supporting Polk County return home each evening. Overnight travel is limited to rare occasions when supporting Revere projects, startups, emergency response activities, or specialized work outside the Polk County service area. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting, problem solving, and working independently in the field while supporting critical infrastructure systems that directly impact local communities. Candidate Fit: We do not expect every candidate to know every system used by Polk County Utilities. A candidate who matches approximately 60-70% of the role may still be considered if they have strong instrumentation fundamentals, good troubleshooting habits, and the ability to learn quickly. This can be a trainable role for the right person, but it is not an entry-level position. Revere can train on Polk-specific equipment, site standards, forms, procedures, and customer expectations. The candidate must already have a working foundation in electrical troubleshooting, control circuits, field wiring, instrumentation signals, and safe work practices . The skills you need: To succeed in this role, you must have experience with: Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems Hands-on experience with industrial electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities, manufacturing, process, or similar field service environments. Working knowledge of 4-20 mA analog signals, including measuring loop current and understanding how a field transmitter signal is used by a PLC or SCADA system. Ability to troubleshoot basic signal problems involving field devices, loop power, wiring, terminations, input cards, scaling, and process conditions. Ability to use a multimeter and basic test equipment safely on control circuits, power supplies, relays, fuses, terminals, and field wiring. Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, control drawings, panel layouts, and related field documentation. Safe work habits, including lockout/tagout awareness, electrical safety, and good judgment around energized equipment. Support water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, lift stations, well sites, and related utility infrastructure. Diagnose issues involving PLCs, SCADA systems, VFDs, telemetry systems, MCCs, relays, and process instrumentation Perform preventive maintenance inspections and operational system checks Support equipment startups, commissioning, and field-testing activities Read and interpret electrical drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and control documentation Document field findings, calibration records, repairs, and recommendations Coordinate with operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, contractors, and project managers Maintain safe work practices while operating around industrial electrical and process equipment Participate in a rotational on-call schedule supporting 24-hour utility operations Preferred Experience Water or wastewater utilities Industrial instrumentation and controls PLC and SCADA systems Electrical troubleshooting Process automation VFD and motor control systems Analytical instrumentation Networking and telemetry systems What make this position Unique Local travel within Polk County Home at night Long-term support role within a large municipal utility system Wide variety of instrumentation and controls work Opportunity to develop deep system familiarity and customer relationships Combination of field troubleshooting, operations support, and technical problem solving Exposure to multiple disciplines including instrumentation, electrical systems, automation, and SCADA integration Rotational on-call schedule supporting critical infrastructure operations Experience and Ability Requirements: Preferably three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience in field service. Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet. Completion of OSHA safety training/certification. Basic math and computer skills. Self-motivated and a proven ability to take charge of a task and complete it with minimal supervision. Knowledge and experience with specialized tools, test, and calibration equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors. Technical school, associate degree, military technical training, or equivalent field experience preferred Strong troubleshooting and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage field assignments Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation schedule Ability to work safely in industrial and municipal utility environments Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for company insurance coverage.
