Field Services Engineer

C-RAD AB
Posted 4 hours ago
🇩🇪Germany🏢Hybrid📁Engineering & Development
Is this job info correct?

C-RAD is an expanding global medical device company with headquarters in Uppsala, Sweden.

We develop, manufacture, and sell innovative solutions to healthcare customers, with a focus on patient positioning, monitoring, and imaging within Radiation Therapy (RT). We are a market leader in the field of optical patient positioning and surface tracking.

Our products enable precision treatments through positioning and monitoring of patients in radiation therapy, which maximizes the dose in tumors and minimizes the dose in surrounding tissues. Our products support all major Photon and Proton therapy systems.

C-RAD is expanding our EMEA-based Service team with an open position in the DACH region (primarily Germany) – apply now and join the fight against cancer!

About the opportunity

As a Field Service Engineer at C-RAD, you will perform installations and maintenance on radiation therapy products, with EMEA as your home region and regular travel across the European Union and neighboring countries.

You will plan and execute installations and customer acceptance, perform on-site service and preventive maintenance, and provide remote customer support from your home office.

This role is well suited to engineers who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, travel, and completing complex installations independently.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Prepare and execute installations, service, and support activities in line with company procedures and routines
  • Diagnose system or technical issues and determine appropriate solutions
  • Provide basic customer technical training related to products
  • Build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Document service calls, cases, and reports in a timely manner in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide remote customer support as part of a rotating on-call schedule during business hours, with some schedule flexibility

Qualifications and experience

  • Medical device or radiotherapy experience is beneficial but not required; greater emphasis is placed on strong troubleshooting skills, technical curiosity, comfort with computers and hands-on work, and the persistence to fully resolve issues
  • Practical, hands-on experience with Windows-based systems and IT/networking tasks, including system configuration, hardware and software installation and troubleshooting, network connectivity, and diagnostics
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Electronics, Computer, Mechanical or IT), or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Ability to safely work on ladders, above suspended ceilings, and occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 20 kg
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English, both written and spoken; French is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligible for passport

Key competencies and personal characteristics

  • Strong personal drive and motivation to learn new products and subjects
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, committed to building trusted customer and colleague relationships
  • Self-motivated problem-solver, able to plan and execute own assignments
  • Structured, analytical and professional in all situations

Training and onboarding

  • On-the-job training through shadowing and mentoring with experienced Field Service Engineers, followed by formal product certification training
  • Gradual progression from supervised preventive maintenance and service activities to independent service and installations
  • Expectation of a proactive, self-directed approach to learning through hands-on experience, documentation review, and problem-solving in the field

Role opportunities

At C-RAD, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the company's mission of improving cancer treatment and patient outcomes through innovative medical technology. You will join an experienced and collaborative service team that supports advanced solutions used in healthcare. The role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and career development within C-RAD, while allowing you to play a key role in a growing and innovative Swedish life science company. When you are not traveling to customer sites, you will be based from your home office, providing flexibility in your day-to-day work.
