Finance, Data & Software Architecture Intern Duration: 6 Months Employment Type: W-2, Temporary Department: Finance & Business Operations Reports To: Finance Leadership / Software Architecture Leadership Location: Remote Position Overview We are seeking a highly analytical, entrepreneurial, and technically capable intern to support multiple functions across the business, with a primary focus on Finance, Data & Analytics, and Software Architecture. This is a six-month W-2 position designed for someone who enjoys working across disciplines and is comfortable moving between financial analysis, data, technology, and day-to-day business initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong quantitative skills, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of projects with limited direction. The intern will work closely with senior members of the Finance and Software Architecture teams to help improve financial reporting, analyze business performance, support technology initiatives, and identify opportunities to make the company's systems and processes more efficient. Key Responsibilities Finance & Business Analytics Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, cash flow, and other key business metrics. Build and maintain Excel-based financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools. Perform data reconciliation and quality checks across financial and operational datasets. Support month-end and quarter-end financial processes. Conduct ad hoc analysis to support management decision-making. Help identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within financial and operational data. Assist in developing KPIs and performance dashboards for different areas of the business. Data & Analytics Work with large and complex datasets using Python, R, SQL, and Excel. Clean, transform, and analyze business data from multiple sources. Develop visualizations and reports that communicate business insights clearly. Automate repetitive data analysis and reporting processes where appropriate. Support the development of analytical models and statistical analyses. Help establish reliable data definitions, processes, and documentation. Investigate discrepancies between operational, financial, and reporting data. Software Architecture & Technology Support the Software Architecture team in evaluating and documenting existing systems and workflows. Assist with mapping data flows between business applications, databases, APIs, and internal systems. Help document system architecture, technical requirements, and business processes. Participate in discussions around application architecture, data structures, integrations, and automation. Assist with SQL/database-related projects and data pipeline analysis. Support testing and validation of new software functionality and integrations. Identify opportunities to automate manual business processes through software or data solutions. Assist with research and evaluation of new technologies, tools, and software platforms. Translate business requirements into structured technical requirements and documentation. Assist with evaluating how technology can better support Finance and other business functions. Cross-Functional Business Support Work on special projects across Finance, Operations, Technology, and other departments. Conduct research and competitive/market analysis as needed. Build presentations, reports, and analyses for leadership. Assist with process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives. Support ad hoc projects where analytical or technical expertise can add value. Collaborate with team members across departments to understand business problems and develop practical solutions. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent academic background. Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of Python, SQL, R, or similar analytical/programming tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with financial and operational data. Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn across multiple areas of the business. Preferred: Experience with financial modeling or financial analysis. Experience working with databases or SQL. Familiarity with software architecture, APIs, data pipelines, or system integrations. Experience with Git or other version-control systems. Experience building dashboards or data visualizations. Entrepreneurial or small-business experience. Experience working with ambiguous problems and developing solutions independently. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is quantitatively strong but also commercially minded. They should be comfortable looking at a spreadsheet one minute and a database or technical workflow the next.
