Accountant in Bankruptcy is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government, responsible for administering Scotland's insolvency system, supervising bankruptcy processes, and supporting individuals and businesses facing financial difficulty. The Agency plays a vital role in delivering fair, efficient and effective debt solutions while supporting Scotland's wider economic wellbeing. At Accountant in Bankruptcy, the Finance Team plays a central role in supporting the Agency's strategic ambitions and operational success. We are looking for a talented Finance Manager to provide financial leadership, influence key business decisions and contribute to impactful projects that support the effective stewardship of public funds. The Finance Team is a key corporate function within the Agency, providing financial stewardship, governance and strategic support to ensure public resources are managed efficiently and effectively. The team works closely with colleagues across the organisation, senior leaders and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making and the delivery of Agency objectives. As Finance Manager, you will play a significant role in supporting the Agency's financial planning, management and reporting activities. You will provide expert financial advice and analysis to a broad range of stakeholders, contribute to strategic decision-making, and help ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, legislation and Scottish Government guidance. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and controls, support the development of colleagues within the Finance Team, and lead or contribute to projects that enhance the Agency's financial services and operational effectiveness.The role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to broaden their skills, influence strategic decision-making, lead key financial initiatives, and continue their professional development within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. Responsibilities Assisting the Head of Finance to ensure the timely and accurate completion of budget monitoring and reporting exercises and provide management with robust information and explanations to assist them in making informed decisions. Provision of financial management advice to stakeholders through delivery of financial reporting and analysis, and supplying high quality regular financial updates to key stakeholders. Lead, support and line manage finance colleagues to ensure delivery of team priorities, while also providing support and guidance to direct reports. Maintaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external, whilst managing the timing and quality of information. Supporting the financial reporting projects, including preparation of Annual Report and Accounts and Scottish Public Sector accounts and other statutory reporting. Identify potential improvements to finance processes with a particular focus on using core financial reporting systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of organisational financial management Qualifications The successful candidate must be fully CCAB qualified (or equivalent) or in the final stages of a qualification and have significant experience working in a financial environment. The Agency operates a hybrid working policy and staff are required to attend the office in Kilwinning at least two days a week for full time staff. Our standard hours are 35 hours per week. This post is full time role, but we welcome applications from staff with different working patterns. We offer a range of flexible and hybrid working options depending on the needs of the role. Skilled Worker Sponsorship not being offered Skilled Worker sponsorship is not available for this role. As a result, we are unable to appoint candidates who require Skilled Worker sponsorship now or in the future. Applicants must have an existing and ongoing right to work in the UK.
