Finance Manager (CPA Preferred) 📍 Riverdale Park, Maryland 💼 Department: Finance & Employee Services 📊 Classification: Exempt 🏛 Reports to: Deputy Director of Finance Join Our Team The Town of Riverdale Park is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager (CPA Preferred) to join the Office of Finance Services. This is a key leadership position responsible for managing the Town’s day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the integrity of financial reporting and internal controls. The Finance and Employee Services Department operates under the Town’s Five E’s Initiative : Ethics • Expectations • Efficiencies • Effectiveness • Execution Position Overview The Finance Manager oversees the Town’s daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting support, bank reconciliations, and audit preparation. The position plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the Town’s annual audit and budget processes. The Finance Manager works closely with the Deputy Director of Finance and the Director of Finance and Employee Services to support financial operations and improve financial systems and processes. Key Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable and accounts receivable • Maintain general ledger records and perform financial reconciliations • Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports • Assist with preparation of the Town’s annual operating budget • Coordinate audit schedules and assist with the annual external audit • Ensure compliance with GAAP and Town financial policies • Monitor banking activity and reconcile deposits and accounts • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency • Support implementation and improvement of financial systems and ERP tools Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in: Accounting Finance Business Administration Public Administration or a closely related field Experience Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience , preferably in municipal or governmental finance. Certifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. Candidates possessing a CPA license must maintain it in an active, unrestricted status throughout their employment.
