The Opportunity As our Financial Accountant , you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and reliability of Universal Store's financial reporting and statutory obligations. Reporting to the Group Financial Accounting & Tax Manager, you'll be responsible for supporting financial reporting, month-end processes and statutory compliance, while contributing to process improvements and initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the Finance function. This role suits someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-site retail environment, brings strong attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering accurate and timely financial outcomes. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate weekly and monthly financial reports to support timely business decisions Support the month‑end close process, including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations Support statutory reporting, audit requirements, annual budgeting processes and variance analysis Manage GST, FBT and income tax compliance, including returns and reconciliations Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee capital expenditure processes Monitor operating expenses and support strong financial governance across the business Ensure accurate financial treatment of inventory movements and stock balances Support external audit requirements and maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls We’re Looking For CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards completion, with a relevant accounting degree Experience in a Financial Accountant, Assistant Accountant or similar role Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance and internal controls Excellent analytical capability with strong attention to detail Confidence working with financial systems and large data sets Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines A collaborative working style with the ability to engage cross-functionally Adaptable, resilient and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment Experience within a retail or multi-site environment (highly regarded) What We Offer A vibrant, collaborative workplace culture with a supportive and growth driven leadership team Exclusive staff discounts across our brands, plus access to partner deals and offers through Flare Free on-site parking and generous facilities at our modern, purpose-built Support Office located in Eagle Farm Learning & Development opportunities - Grow your career with us!
