About the Role

The Controller exists to ensure outsourced accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance processes, and close cycles are accurate, timely, and scalable as the business grows. This role owns financial oversight across inventory accounting, reconciliations, regulatory filings, cash flow management, close management, and outsourced accounting team leadership. The Controller is responsible for producing clean, reviewed financials for corporate leadership while maintaining disciplined accounting controls and operational accountability across multiple business units and locations. Success in this role means month-end close processes are completed accurately and on schedule, financial data can be trusted, compliance obligations are met consistently, inventory integrity is maintained, and the outsourced accounting team operates with high standards and accountability.

Work hours: 9:00AM - 6:00PM EST / 9:00PM - 6AM PHT

What you’ll do

Financial Reporting & Close Management

• Lead and manage monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
• Review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules before submission to corporate leadership
• Ensure accounting entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and in accordance with internal standards
• Prepare and review journal entries related to accruals, inventory, depreciation, and operational accounting activity
• Produce clean, reviewed financials with supporting documentation and variance explanations

Inventory & Operational Accounting

• Record and manage inventory accounting entries and maintain inventory accuracy across locations and operations
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with operational teams
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure additions, disposals, and depreciation activity are recorded accurately
• Review monthly financial activity for fixed asset additions and disposals to ensure schedules remain accurate and complete
• Support operational accountability through accurate inventory reporting and reconciliation practices

Regulatory Filings & Compliance

• Complete and review monthly and quarterly regulatory filings including:
• Sales & use tax filings
• Excise tax filings
• Prepared food & beverage tax filings
• Shipping and distribution reports
• ABC financial reporting and compliance documentation
• Maintain organized records and supporting documentation for all regulatory filings
• Ensure deadlines and compliance obligations are met consistently and accurately

Cash Management & Financial Analysis

• Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasting models and reporting
• Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and communicate operational insights to leadership
• Prepare ad hoc financial reporting and analysis requests for leadership and operational teams
• Monitor financial trends, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions where appropriate

AP / AR Oversight & Team Leadership

• Review and manage AP aging and AR aging to maintain healthy cash flow and vendor relationships
• Follow up with AP vendors and AR customers when escalations or resolution support are needed
• Supervise, coach, and review the work of the outsourced Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist and Staff Accountant
• Establish accountability standards and workflow expectations for the outsourced accounting team
• Support process improvement and systems optimization across accounting operations

Audit & Controls Support

• Assist with internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation as requested
• Maintain organized financial records and audit-ready documentation standards
• Ensure internal controls and approval workflows are followed consistently
• Identify process gaps or risks and implement corrective improvements

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting processes
• Experience with reconciliations, regulatory filings, and operational accounting
• Leadership or supervisory experience within accounting or finance functions
• Strong Excel and accounting systems proficiency
