Why this role matters: As a Consultant in our Risk Advisory Group, you will advise leading banks, insurers, and asset managers on their most pressing risk and compliance challenges. Working in close-knit teams, you’ll strengthen clients’ risk frameworks, models, and governance across areas such as credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, ALM, and financial crime prevention. A key part of your role is analysing large and complex financial datasets to identify risks and prevent unauthorised activities such as money laundering, fraud, and sanctions violations. You will also contribute to developing and validating GenAI models and apply machine learning techniques to enhance clients’ anti-financial crime capabilities, helping them detect emerging risk patterns and remain compliant with evolving regulations. By using AI-driven techniques to spot emerging risk patterns and improve frameworks, you’ll support clients in staying compliant with evolving regulations. Ultimately, with your work you will directly help make financial institutions safer, more resilient, and future-proof; all while launching your own career in the dynamic world of financial risk management. Key Responsibilities: Develop and validate predictive, statistical, and generative AI models that support proactive risk identification, regulatory reporting (e.g. IFRS 9, Basel), and scenario analysis, Review how clients currently use financial technology, identify best practice improvements, and implement those changes, Work alongside experienced colleagues to help manage the project success and align with client expectations, Advance the project work by completing assigned tasks or providing client support, Decide which market trends and legislation to research so that you can develop your own expertise within Zanders. What you bring: PhD or Master's degree in Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Physics, Econometrics, Computer science, Engineering, AI, or other quantitative studies, 0-2 years of experience in quantitative projects, Advanced programming skills in e.g Python (experience working with large-scale datasets using tools such as Spark is a plus ), High degree of creativity, adaptability, and sociability, Familiarity with machine learning techniques or building NLP/LLM pipelines is a plus , but not required, Interest in leveraging data and AI to strengthen fraud detection, AML processes, and transaction monitoring systems will be considered a plus, Interest in financial regulations and compliance; knowledge of frameworks like the EU AI Act or Wwft (Anti-Money Laundering regulation) will be considered a plus, Fluency in Dutch will be considered a plus, but not required, Already based in the Netherlands.
