Job Title: Fiscal Officer Department: Veterinary Medicine | College Administration The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Fiscal Officer to join our Finance team. Under the direction of the College Director of Financial Operations and working within a collaborative team environment, the Fiscal Officer manages the fiscal and administrative operations for assigned academic and administrative support units within the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position oversees a broad range of financial operations including accounting, budgeting, compliance, post award grant support, and financial reporting. The role applies advanced knowledge of financial principles, university policies, and sponsored program requirements to support strategic financial management and operational effectiveness across the college. The position will be responsible for the following: Serves as the cost center manager and primary fiscal approver for procurement, travel, and HR tasks in Workday. Coordinates accounting functions, processes IOBs, initiates journals and fund transfers, costing allocation changes, and payroll accounting adjustments. Identifies and resolves fiscal discrepancies. Issues invoices for contract and earnings funds and monitors payments. Provides post award grant support for assigned units including the review of procurement requests, pcard expense reports, reimbursements, and spend authorizations for compliance and budget appropriateness. Reviews and approves match exception overrides for grant purchases. Initiates cost center journals and accounting adjustments for grant expenditures at the request of faculty. Provides ad-hoc support with costing allocations and payroll accounting adjustments for grant costed personnel. Manages departmental fiscal activities in accordance with University policy and procedures and Office of Sponsored Programs requirements. Ensures adherence to appropriate internal controls and compliance with established policies. Provides customer service assistance to Department leaders, faculty, and staff related to fiscal policies. Serves as a fiscal contact person for the College and advises faculty and staff of University and college policies and procedures. Assists with the annual budget process by compiling forecast and plan data for assigned units. Coordinates and compiles information for financial audit requests. Supports the Chief Administrative Officer with ad-hoc requests. Represents the College and attends appropriate college and university meetings as necessary. Provides coverage when needed for other finance team members. Other duties as assigned. Additional Information: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and at least 4 years of financial management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Excel. Desired Qualifications: Experience with Workday, PI Portal, Microsoft Excel, knowledge of University policies and ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures; demonstrated high level of customer service; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; willingness to work as a team player. Target Salary Range: $ 64,900 - $84,850 per year ; commensurate with experience, internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
