Forensic Specialist

This is a hybrid role, with a preference to hire from within the Netherlands.

THE ROLE

We're hiring a Multimedia Forensic Specialist with a law enforcement background to be the forensic voice inside our product.

Our customers are investigators, examiners and analysts. You have been one of them, and you'll use that to shape what we build: which analysis capabilities matter in a real case, what an output has to look like to hold up in a proceeding, and where our detectors fall short of what the work demands. You'll sit close to the engineering and ML research teams, and stay close to customers and to the wider forensic community.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Product

* Own the forensic point of view in our product: translate real investigative workflows into requirements, and work with engineering and ML research as those capabilities get built.

* Define what forensic-grade means for us: evidence handling, hashing and chain of custody, audit trails, reproducibility, and court-ready report exports.

* Validate analysis features and detectors before release: build test sets from real-world material, assess them the way an examiner would, and prioritise fixes with the research team.

* Shape our provenance roadmap: C2PA, JPEG Trust, SynthID and other watermarking signals.

* Track the AI generator landscape and turn it into a product requirement before it becomes a customer request.

Customers and community

* Serve as technical escalation for customers — police forces, forensic labs, intelligence services, banks, insurers, NGOs — on interpreting results and on live investigations.

* Train customer analysts and examiners on forensic method and on our platform, onsite and remotely.

* Act as forensic authority alongside our commercial team in technical evaluations, pilots and public tenders.

* Represent Sensity at conferences and workshops, and contribute to marketing: threat reports, case studies, blog posts, webinars and press commentary.

* Handle selected examinations in-house

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

* 3+ years in law enforcement, forensic institute, defense or public prosecution

* A degree in multimedia or audio forensics, forensic science, or a related discipline.

* Hands-on casework in multimedia forensics: image, video or audio authentication and analysis.

* Command of the fundamentals: metadata, compression and re-encoding artefacts, sensor pattern noise, audio spectral analysis

* Firm opinions about what forensic software should do, formed by using it on real cases under real deadlines. Familiarity with ExifTool, ffmpeg, iZotope RX, and similar

* Excellent written English, across specifications, reports and public-facing material.

BONUS POINTS

* Experience specifying, evaluating or procuring forensic tooling inside an agency.

* Court-registered expert witness status in an EU jurisdiction, or prior testimony experience.

* Membership of a professional forensic body (AAFS, CSFS, ENFSI).

* Publications or conference presentations in multimedia forensics.

* Working familiarity with generative AI tools and how they are used in the wild.

* Additional languages for casework on non-English media.
