We're partnering with a high-growth enterprise technology company that's helping large organizations deliver more engaging digital customer experiences through embedded platform technology. As the business enters its next stage of growth, they're hiring a Founding Business Development Leader to build and scale one of their most strategic commercial initiatives focused on financial institutions.
This is a rare opportunity to join a company with a proven product, strong market traction, and an executive team that's investing heavily in a new growth engine. You'll work directly with senior leadership to define the commercial strategy, establish key partnerships, and build a repeatable go-to-market motion from the ground up.
Rather than stepping into an established territory, you'll help shape how the company approaches banks, fintechs, and other enterprise organizations, influencing everything from partnership strategy and commercial positioning to product direction and long-term growth.
This is a full-time, permanent, fully remote position for candidates based in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the go-to-market strategy for banks, fintechs, card issuers, and other strategic financial institution partners.
- Identify, develop, negotiate, and close complex enterprise partnerships from initial outreach through signed agreement.
- Build the commercial motion from the ground up, including target account strategy, messaging, pricing, partnership models, and sales process.
- Self-source and develop strategic opportunities through outbound, networking, referrals, events, and creative business development initiatives.
- Navigate complex buying cycles involving executive leadership, product, procurement, legal, compliance, security, and technical stakeholders.
- Build long-term executive relationships and identify opportunities to expand strategic partnerships over time.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and executive leadership to shape commercial strategy and influence product direction.
- Translate customer and market feedback into scalable product and go-to-market improvements.
- Build repeatable processes, playbooks, forecasting, and pipeline management to support long-term growth.
- Use AI and modern sales technology to improve productivity, account strategy, and business development execution.
- Help establish the foundation for a scalable commercial organization as the company continues to grow.
Must-Have Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise business development, strategic partnerships, or complex B2B enterprise sales
- Experience building a new market, product, vertical, or go-to-market motion within an early-stage or high-growth technology company
- Demonstrated success sourcing, developing, negotiating, and closing complex enterprise partnerships
- Strong executive presence with the ability to build relationships across business, technical, legal, procurement, and executive stakeholders
- Track record of selling complex technology solutions that required educating the buyer and navigating multi-stakeholder buying processes
- Experience creating account strategy, mapping stakeholders, and managing long enterprise sales cycles
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and building processes, messaging, and commercial strategy from the ground up
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and executive leadership
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience selling into financial institutions, fintechs, card issuers, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience selling fintech infrastructure, embedded finance, payments, APIs, loyalty technology, or enterprise platform solutions
- Experience structuring strategic partnerships, commercial agreements, or platform integrations
- Background working directly with founders or executive leadership to shape GTM strategy
- Loyalty, rewards, travel, or financial services industry experience
