Bactrix is building an AI-driven drug repurposing platform to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a growing global health threat responsible for over a million deaths annually, with a treatment pipeline that has not kept pace. We are seeking an experienced AI engineer to help shape our core technology at a foundational level.
About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor of a mission-driven company with genuine global health impact. Rather than executing a predefined specification, you will hold real influence over our technical architecture and direction, working directly with our founder and science team to build a platform with the potential to meaningfully accelerate treatment discovery.
What Sets This Role Apart
- Founding-level equity ownership, reflecting genuine early-stage contribution rather than a standard grant.
- Direct influence over architectural and technical decisions, not execution of a fixed roadmap.
- Close collaboration with our science team on a platform addressing a significant, underfunded global health challenge.
- Fully remote, with flexibility to structure your own working hours.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 5 years' experience building and deploying production AI/ML systems.
- Demonstrated experience with LLMs and agentic AI (e.g. RAG, agent orchestration, LangChain/LangGraph or similar frameworks).
- Comfort operating in a lean, early-stage environment, building efficient solutions without reliance on significant infrastructure spend.
- Experience in pharma, biotech, or life sciences is a strong advantage.
- A genuine interest in equity-based, high-ownership opportunities at this stage of company growth.
Compensation
This role is offered on an equity-based basis at our current pre-seed stage. Cash compensation will be discussed once funding is secured. We are looking for candidates who are motivated by long-term ownership and impact as much as by immediate compensation.
We welcome applications from candidates who meet the experience level and are comfortable with the terms described above.
