Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000 base + super

Location: Melbourne (Hybrid)

Our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Allume Energy is an endorsed employer for women by WORK180, and a full list of our benefits and policies can be found HERE.

We believe diverse perspectives are the key to unlocking greater outcomes and encourage applications from people of all ages, nationalities, abilities, and cultures. We champion equal opportunities for all employees.

If you have any special requests or accessibility requirements throughout the recruitment process, please advise us at the time of application (via email) and we will adjust to meet your needs.

Company background

At Allume Energy, we believe clean energy should be accessible to everyone - no matter where they live. We’re a Melbourne based technology company focused on unlocking solar access for apartments and multi-tenanted buildings. Our world-first hardware and software product, SolShare, is a powerful solution to an emerging energy equity issue and reducing global carbon emissions.

Built here in Melbourne, SolShare has connected over 12,000 apartments to rooftop solar across Australia, the UK and the US. We are doubling our installation base each year and have ambition to connect over 100,000 apartments to solar by 2029. Our dedication to this cause flows through everything that we do, fostering a culture where everyone is committed to making a difference.

What we offer

We are proud to offer the following:

  • Hybrid Work: This role is based in our Melbourne office and follows a hybrid working model. We believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration, so while you’ll have the flexibility to work from home, we look forward to seeing you in the office regularly to connect with the team.
  • Flexibility: Our preference is for this role to be full time, however if you are returning to work or want to focus more time on life outside of work, we would love for you to apply! We understand part-time may look different to everyone, and we look forward to discussing what might suit you best.
  • Leave & Wellbeing: 25 days (5 weeks) of annual leave and a "Half-Day Friday" every fortnight where the whole team logs off at lunch.
  • Progressive Parental Leave: 15 weeks paid leave for primary carers and 5 weeks for secondary carers (no minimum tenure required).
  • Wellbeing: Access to an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Options: ESOP (Employee Stock Option Plan) allocation available.

About the role

Allume’s product spans the mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware and web software engineering disciplines. We are looking for a capable and passionate Full Stack Team Lead to guide the technical direction and implementation of our web stack; the customer facing applications and APIs that manage our IoT fleet.

You will translate product goals into a clear technical plan, make the architecture trade-offs, and sequence work to ensure the team balances new delivery with reliability, security and performance.

Candidates should be excited about shaping real-time data products for our customers, setting engineering standards for a small multi-discipline team and bringing AI tooling to our development lifecycle.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position provides an opportunity within Allume to lead the web software development within a small, dedicated software team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translate product requirements and web initiatives into clear, prioritised and sequenced delivery plans, balancing new development with reliability, security, maintainability and technical debt.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across product, engineering and the wider business, as well as relevant technical partners, to clarify requirements, manage dependencies and support successful delivery.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership, mentoring and support to the web team, leading technical and design reviews and proactively unblocking engineers. Success is measured by the effectiveness and output of the team, not just individual contribution.
  • Remain hands-on in the design, development, testing and maintenance of scalable back-end services, APIs and Vue.js front-end applications.
  • Guide the technical direction and evolution of Allume’s web stack, including backend services, APIs and Vue.js front-end applications, and help shape the technical roadmap to get there.
  • Define, roll out and continuously improve how the web team uses AI tooling across the development lifecycle. Establish effective workflows and quality and security guardrails for AI-generated code, and coach the team to use these tools responsibly.
  • Participate in the team's shared on-call roster, rotated across the team, with clear runbooks and backup support available while on call.
  • As a technical leader within Allume, actively champion and model our cultural values across the team and broader organisation.

Experience:

  • Proven track record working directly with non-technical stakeholders to shape and prioritise a technical delivery and roadmap
  • Experience in turning business requirements into scoped, estimated work and planning delivery for a team.
  • Extensive full stack software engineering experience
  • Experience in development frameworks: Node.js, NestJS and Vue.js
  • Experience with RESTful APIs
  • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL) and schema optimisation
  • Melbourne based

Nice to have

  • Hands on experience adopting AI developer tooling (AI coding assistants / agents) in a professional setting, and a point of view on how to set it up for a team.
  • Passion for clean tech/clean energy.

Right to work

To be considered for this role, you must have valid, unrestricted work rights in Australia. Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.

Interview process

We endeavour to respond to your application within 2 weeks of submission to advise you of the outcome. We expect that the full recruitment process will take 4-6 weeks however this is subject to change.

Applications close Friday 28 August 2026.

For shortlisted candidates, our process consists of three key stages as follows:

  • Round 1: Online Interview (15 mins) – A brief online interview to discuss your experience, your motivations, and why you’re excited about joining Allume Energy.
  • Round 2: Technical Deep Dive (1 hour) – An in-person interview with the hiring manager to explore your technical expertise and how you tackle role-specific challenges.
  • Round 3: Values & Team Alignment (1.5 hours) – A final session with the hiring manager and broader team members. This is an opportunity to discuss our company values and ensure a mutual cultural alignment for long-term success.
