Remote Pharmacist - Utilization Management Specialist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacist to join our team, focused on reviewing Medicaid members' Utilization Management (UM) requests. This role involves making critical clinical evaluations for coverage determination requests, ensuring compliance with client-specific criteria. The position demands a detail-oriented approach, with an emphasis on clinical judgment and effective communication. Responsibilities Conduct clinical evaluations for coverage determination requests for prior authorization or other UM programs, including quantity limits, step therapy, formulary exceptions, and tier exceptions. Ensure the appropriateness of denial language and decision-making as it relates to clinical content and client-specific criteria. Engage in direct consultation with healthcare providers or members regarding non-formulary and clinical product coverage issues. Collaborate with team members to maintain consistency in decision-making across the pharmacist team. Complete other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Two years of experience in retail, managed care, or clinical pharmacy. Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in making independent clinical decisions. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Comfortable with multi-monitor setups and adept at navigating multiple platforms, including Microsoft applications and AutoHotkey. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in Pharmacy Benefits Management is not preferred. Ability to type 45+ WPM. Proficiency in Word and Excel. Motivated self-starter who can drive results independently. Flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting to change. Work Environment This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from any U.S. state except California, Hawaii, or Alaska. After training, work hours typically start between 9-9:30am CST, with an 8-hour shift that may extend during peak periods. Shifts are determined by seniority-based team bidding. Candidates should expect full-time schedules with potential for overtime during peak seasons, typically November through May. Weekend shifts and holiday work are rotated among team members. Training is a comprehensive 9-week program with a mix of instructor-led sessions, videos, worksheets, and practice cases, scheduled from 8-4:30pm CST. Flexibility with time off is limited during training, with exceptions made for emergencies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.
