Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Generative AI Engineer at The Agentic Loop. The Generative AI Engineer will design, build, and maintain agentic and generative AI systems, including prompt pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation workflows, and production-ready tools that support our content, programs, and community. Day-to-day responsibilities include experimenting with foundation models and APIs, implementing and evaluating model integrations, optimizing performance and reliability, and documenting patterns and best practices for practitioners. The role involves close collaboration with content creators and program leads to turn emerging ideas into working demos, reference implementations, and teaching materials, as well as contributing to internal tooling and automation for the publication. The Generative AI Engineer will also monitor new releases in the AI ecosystem, run prototypes to test their practical value, and share insights that help our audience understand and build with agentic AI.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in languages commonly used for AI and backend development (e.g., Python, TypeScript/JavaScript), including experience with APIs, testing, and version control.
• Hands-on experience with generative and agentic AI tools (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, Llama, RAG systems), including prompt design, orchestration frameworks, and evaluation of model behavior.
• Solid understanding of data handling and infrastructure concepts, such as vector databases, embeddings, basic cloud services, and integration of external data sources.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical explanations and documentation for engineers, practitioners, and non-specialist audiences.
• Comfort working in a remote, fast-moving environment with a high degree of autonomy, ownership, and collaboration across content, product, and community initiatives.
• Prior experience in machine learning engineering, AI-focused software development, or building production-grade AI features is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
