We believe in promoting healthy and conscious eating choices, and our range of products reflects our commitment to quality and sustainability. Mission: The Global Category Manager is responsible for securing a resilient, cost-competitive, and high-quality global supply chain for NSI's strategic raw materials while protecting the business from commodity volatility, supply disruptions, geopolitical risks, and supplier performance failures. Beyond managing existing supply networks, this leader serves as a strategic business development partner by identifying, developing, and commercializing new supply chains, ingredients, origins, and supplier relationships that enable new customer opportunities, product innovation, and profitable growth. By building strategic supplier partnerships and leveraging market intelligence, this role will create sustainable sourcing capabilities that fuel NSI's long-term growth. Key responsibilities: Develop and execute global sourcing strategies that secure a resilient, cost-competitive, and high-quality supply of NSI's strategic raw materials. Build new global supply chains that create competitive advantage, enable new business opportunities, and support product innovation. Identify, qualify, and develop strategic suppliers across Africa, India, Southeast Asia, South America, and other key sourcing regions. Lead commercial negotiations for supply agreements, pricing structures, and forward-buying strategies that protect margins while ensuring supply continuity. Monitor global commodity markets, crop conditions, geopolitical events, freight, currency, and other market dynamics to provide actionable market intelligence and pricing recommendations. Develop supplier diversification strategies that mitigate geographic, climate, supplier concentration, and geopolitical risks. Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships through regular international travel to supplier origins, trade shows, and industry events (approximately 40% travel). Partner with Sales, Product Development, Quality, Operations, and Finance to align sourcing strategies with customer needs and business objectives. Implement supplier performance management processes, including scorecards, KPIs, contract governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure suppliers meet NSI's food safety, quality, sustainability, traceability, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have: Minimum 10 years’ experience in commodity trading, with a focus on organic food ingredients. Experience sourcing at least one commodity or product category aligned with NSI's portfolio, with the ability to expand into additional categories. Demonstrated success developing suppliers and sourcing programs across Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and/or South America. Extensive experience with agricultural commodities, commodity markets, supplier negotiations, and forward pricing strategies. Strong commercial instincts with the ability to identify sourcing opportunities that create competitive advantage and new business opportunities. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build long-term supplier partnerships while achieving favorable commercial outcomes. High business acumen with a strong understanding of commodity economics, landed costs, freight, tariffs, foreign exchange, and supply chain risk. An entrepreneurial, results-oriented mindset with a bias for action and a passion for building new opportunities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate market trends and make data-driven decisions. Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills. Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately 40% of the time. Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, International Trade, Supply Chain, Agribusiness, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred, especially with a focus on international trade, supply chain, or finance. Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems and sourcing analytics tools preferred. Professional proficiency in English required; Spanish proficiency strongly preferred. Work environment: Remote role open to candidates residing anywhere in Europe. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to NSI's Barcelona office a minimum of twice per month for in-person meetings, team collaboration, and strategic planning sessions. However, relocation to Spain is highly preferred. Candidates must be flexible with their work schedule to collaborate effectively across multiple international time zones. International travel of approximately 40% is required to visit suppliers, sourcing regions, trade shows, and industry partners. NSI is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. Please direct all recruiting and candidate inquiries to [email protected]. Contacting other team members or departments will result in your message not being reviewed.
