At the direction of the Digital Partnership Principal, the Learning Specialist shares responsibility for all aspects of Digital Partnerships including, but not limited to: development and implementation of an innovative instructional program, family/community relations, and the oversight of student academics and learning goals. This position requires open and ongoing communication with the partnership support staff, curriculum development, software system knowledge in order to be able to respond to student questions; and the ability to observe and control student behavior in accordance with approved policies and procedures. The Learning Specialist provides leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction to teaching staff to better meet the needs of all learners. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, or equivalent required; Master’s Degree preferred AND A valid Arizona Department of Education Counselor Certification OR Valid State Teaching Certificate from any state; AZ Preferred Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching, academic coaching, social-emotional counseling, and/or college-going support for students Experience with innovative technologies and online learning highly preferred Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required. Bilingual, a plus. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the other Learning Specialists to ensure best practices are in place for daily school operations. Access student databases to retrieve student information and run reports. Serve as project lead for tasks and initiatives in support of the school operations. Assist in preparing and distributing school family and faculty correspondence. Manage multiple state certification process for faculty. Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions including designing organizational and operational systems for use internally to ensure adherence to partner-specific needs. Serve as an instructional coach for assigned instructional staff. Provide individualized support to students based on identified risk factors including academic, socio-emotional, and other potential issues, and helps to develop individual plans for success for specific, at-risk students. Conduct ILP progress sessions with specific, at-risk students and their families. Support instruction by providing email and grading feedback to students, as applicable, during teacher absences. Closely track students’ progress, through communication and analytics, to ensure class attendance and academic progress. Collaborate and provide communication with students, families and instructors. Work with partner facilitators as needed to ensure student success and teacher efficacy as well as ensure school operations meet their expectations. Work with partnership teammates internally to coordinate partner needs and expectations. Resolve problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implement solutions; escalate unresolved problems. Follow up to ensure resolution of each issue. Train and support teachers on successful student support. Participate in school meetings, trainings and committees, as scheduled. Organize and facilitate instructional related meetings to ensure proper and thorough documentation of interactions and processes as they evolve. Monitor the effectiveness of ASUPG training programs as it relates to preparing and supporting online teachers. Review monthly progress reports and other ancillary data to identify areas of concern in regard to student performance. Monitor departmental compliance with accountability measures. Liaise with IT team regarding reporting and records management needs. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. LOCATION: Remote TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
