About This Role As Global Medical Director, Medical Education, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how the medical community understands and adopts a potentially transformative treatment approach in Dravet Syndrome. Working within Biogen's Global Dravet Medical team, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive global medical education strategy that supports evolving standards of care, prepares healthcare systems for therapeutic innovation, and advances scientific understanding across the treatment journey. This role sits at the intersection of scientific leadership, medical strategy, and stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate across Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, regional teams, and external experts to translate complex science into impactful educational initiatives that drive meaningful change for physicians and ultimately improve outcomes for patients living with Dravet Syndrome. You bring experience navigating major therapeutic shifts within rare diseases, gene therapies, RNA-based therapies, or other transformative treatment modalities. You understand the scientific, clinical, and educational challenges that accompany the introduction of novel treatment approaches and can translate complex innovations into impactful medical education strategies that drive changes in clinical practice. What You'll Do Lead the long-term strategy, planning, and execution of the global medical education roadmap for Dravet Syndrome. Develop and deliver innovative medical education programs aligned with scientific, clinical, and patient care needs across regions. Define educational priorities across the treatment journey and support the evolution of disease understanding and standards of care. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment between evidence generation, scientific communication, and medical education activities. Shape scientific narratives and educational content that support evolving clinical practice and therapeutic innovation. Lead the planning and execution of global medical education symposia, congress-related activities, and scientific training programs. Provide medical review and strategic guidance for publications, scientific communications, and educational materials. Engage with healthcare professionals, medical experts, and healthcare institutions to understand educational needs and emerging trends. Drive the integration of digital innovation and modern educational approaches into global medical education strategies. Establish and monitor meaningful metrics to evaluate educational impact, physician engagement, and changes in clinical practice. Who You Are You are a scientifically rigorous and strategically minded medical affairs leader who thrives at the forefront of therapeutic innovation. You combine deep scientific expertise with the ability to translate complex data into compelling educational strategies that influence clinical practice. You bring a strong understanding of Rare Disease and are motivated by the opportunity to help physicians navigate significant shifts in patient care. You are collaborative, pragmatic, and capable of influencing diverse stakeholders across functions, regions, and external networks. Most importantly, you are passionate about advancing medical knowledge and improving outcomes for patients facing significant unmet needs. Required Skills MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific or clinical degree. Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including experience within Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical Development, or related functions. Relevant experience within Rare Disease, preferably including Dravet Syndrome or other rare neurological conditions. Experience developing and executing evidence-based medical education strategies and programs. Experience working in regional and/or global Medical Affairs environments. Strong understanding of scientific communications, publications, and medical governance processes. Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders in a matrixed environment. Knowledge of global regulations and compliance requirements relevant to Medical Affairs. Experience leveraging digital solutions and innovative educational approaches within Medical Education. Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Preferred Skills Experience supporting pre-launch, launch, and lifecycle management activities within Medical Affairs. Experience with disease-modifying therapies, RNA-based therapies, gene therapies, antisense oligonucleotides (ASO), or other transformative therapeutic modalities. Experience building medical education strategies for highly specialized physician audiences across regions. Experience working with biomarkers, predictors, precision medicine approaches, or evidence-generation programs. Prior experience leading global or multi-regional medical education initiatives. Deep understanding of epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, genetics, or related therapeutic areas. Job Level: Management Why Biogen?
