The Global Packaging Expert is responsible for developing and implementing innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective packaging solutions. The role combines technical packaging expertise, supplier management, cost optimization, digitalization, and project leadership to drive global standardization and business performance. This position is reporting directly to the Regional Cluster Manager of Packaging and functionally to the Global Category head of Packaging and serves as the technical interface between Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Sustainability, and Procurement, ensuring that packaging solutions are technically fit-for-purpose, commercially competitive, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with global standardization objectives. The position actively supports supplier selection, tendering activities, value engineering projects, and packaging innovation initiatives. This position creates a mutual added Value for all internal Customers in terms of commercial, logistical and processual Enhancements by providing Expertise and Best Practices around the needs of the internal Customers as well as strengthening the relationship to strategic Business Partners (internally and externally). Your tasks Lead the design, standardization, and optimization of packaging solutions across plants, business areas, and regions to improve quality, efficiency, and logistics performance. Drive strategic sourcing and supplier management activities, including technical specifications, supplier evaluation, qualification, and support of negotiations. Identify and implement cost reduction and value engineering opportunities through standardization, alternative materials, TCO optimization, and spend analysis. Promote sustainability and regulatory compliance by advancing circular economy initiatives, reusable packaging concepts, recyclability, and compliance with global packaging regulations. Manage packaging data, specifications, and digital solutions, ensuring accurate master data, documentation, traceability, and continuous digitalization. Monitor market trends, innovations, and emerging technologies to strengthen competitiveness and support future packaging strategies. Lead global packaging projects and cross-functional transformation initiatives, driving process improvement, implementation excellence, and business value creation. Your profile Academic degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification. 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering, packaging sourcing, or related technical and procurement functions within an international manufacturing environment. Strong analytical and conceptual skills with experience in packaging optimization, cost reduction, value engineering, spend analysis, and performance management. Proven project management and stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to lead cross-functional and international transformation initiatives. Excellent communication, negotiation, and supplier management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions, cultures, and organizational levels. Strong digital and systems affinity, including SAP R/3 & S/4, MS Office, eSourcing platforms, data analytics, and AI-supported business tools. Independent, results-oriented, and collaborative mindset, combined with intercultural competence, business acumen, and fluency in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
