We are looking for a full-time Web Manager to take ownership of Go! Go! World’s portfolio of websites and lead our web development team.
About Go! Go! WorldGo! Go! World helps people from around the world live and study abroad. Across our brands, we support students studying in Japan, Korea, Spain, Italy, France and English-speaking destinations.
Our services include school applications, student visa support, accommodation, study trips and online language courses. We offer support in eight languages and have helped more than 22,000 people from over 90 countries achieve their goal of living and studying abroad.
We operate a growing portfolio of multilingual websites, including Go! Go! World, Go! Go! Nihon, Go! Go! Hanguk, Go! Go! España, Go! Go! Italia, Go! Go! France, Go! Go! English, StudyTrip.com and Korea Universities.
About the roleAs Web Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the performance, development and technical health of our websites. This is a hands-on role combining web development, technical management, UX, SEO and team leadership. You will directly manage and develop two to three websites while leading a small team of full-time and part-time web developers responsible for improvements across our wider portfolio.
You will work closely with our County Managers as well as marketing, SEO, content, design and sales teams to understand their objectives and turn business requirements into effective web solutions. As our technical web expert, we expect you to assess requests critically and recommend the best solution rather than simply implementing them.
Your goal will be to keep our websites fast, responsive, secure and technically robust while continually improving user experience and business performance, including click-through rates, engagement, and contact form conversions. Our websites serve users across multiple countries and languages; you will need to think beyond a single page or market. New features and content should be designed to work effectively across languages, devices and audiences.
Main responsibilities- Take overall responsibility for the performance, functionality and technical health of all Go! Go! World websites.
- Manage a small team of full-time and part-time web developers, setting priorities, allocating work and ensuring projects are delivered effectively, alongside taking direct ownership for some sites and projects.
- Identify and implement improvements to website functionality, UX and conversion performance.
- Work with teams across the business to understand their objectives and translate non-technical requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Act as the technical guardian of our websites, assessing proposed changes and ensuring they do not negatively affect site speed, responsiveness, SEO, usability, security or maintainability.
- Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals, page speed, mobile responsiveness, and overall website performance.
- Maintain and improve multilingual WordPress websites, ensuring pages and functionality work effectively across languages and markets.
- Develop scalable processes and templates that allow content and new functionality to be rolled out efficiently across multiple websites and languages.
- Monitor website functionality and uptime, troubleshoot issues, and maintain appropriate website security, updates, backups, and technical standards.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve our websites rather than relying solely on requests from other teams.
- Support wider company projects where web development or technical expertise is required.
Required skills and experience- At least three years of experience in web development, website management or a similar role.
- Strong WordPress experience, including managing and developing complex websites.
- Good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.
- Experience managing multilingual websites. Experience with WPML is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO and how website development decisions can affect organic search performance.
- Good understanding of UX/UI principles and responsive, mobile-first web design.
- Experience improving website performance, including page speed and Core Web Vitals.
- Ability to translate business requirements into appropriate technical solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple websites, projects and priorities.
- Experience managing or coordinating developers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical considerations clearly to non-technical colleagues.
What’s in it for you?- Salary: ¥290,000 to ¥320,000 per month, depending on experience
