Position Description on our website: This graduate assistant will serve as a point of contact for preceptors and students of Chatham's Physician Assistant program. The assistant will help with coordination of placements for PA students including integration of student and clinical placement data in the various platforms used by the program. This graduate assistant will be selected from the pool of incoming MBA students. Compensation: The position is a 1-year (12-month) appointment, 20 hours per week at a rate of $15 per hour. The position is paid for through the graduate assistantship budget line that Academic Affairs, the Business Office, and Admissions coordinate. This position is currently listed under the MBA program as MBA positions which benefit the MPAS program. GA Management: The graduate assistantship is for 1 student, for 1 year term. (The term ends each August and starts each August except when special conditions occur). New students should be identified to take over in Fall for a full year – therefore not leaving the position open mid-year. The positions require the students to be registered a minimum of 6 credits per semester, (preferably full time). We do not guarantee this assistantship for the full duration of their program – especially if they graduate in December. Which is why we deemed it a 1-year cycle with the new students starting each fall. This also was discussed for continuity of service and a full year cycle of consistent help. The PA program will verify timesheets, and the timesheet will be signed off at Chatham by the Program Director of the PA Program. When a student in a GA position plans to leave at the end of the semester, they must notify all parties involved – B&E Dept. rep (TBD) and the Associate Director of Clinical Education of PA Program, at least by mid-semester so that a new candidate can be found to begin the following semester. The GAs will be recruited, selected, and supervised jointly by the MBA and PA program Recruitment is handled through the Business Department. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year. Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer. Chatham University strives to promote a campus environment that understands and embraces multiculturalism while increasing individuals' intercultural competence. We actively work to build and sustain a diverse and culturally vibrant campus, which promotes employee and student success and retention.
