Graduate / Design Engineer

We are looking to recruit a civils Graduate or Design Engineer who will support the delivery of rail and civil engineering design projects within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to concept, preliminary, and detailed designs. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing design drawings and models, undertaking technical calculations, assisting with site visits, design reports, calculations and supporting the coordination of permanent and temporary works designs. The role involves working with modern digital engineering tools, including CAD and BIM platforms, and collaborating with engineers, technicians, and external partners to produce buildable and safe solutions. The Graduate / Design Engineer will also participate in design reviews, help address engineering risks, and support innovation and low-carbon design initiatives. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bristol, with a blend of office and work-from-home arrangements dependent upon experience.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Degree in civil engineering or a closely related subject.
• One year minimum of relevant work experience which may include work experience or work placements.
• An understanding or experience Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and willingness to work within BIM and digital collaboration environments.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills, with attention to detail and commitment to design quality and safety.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in a hybrid working environment.
• The ability to communicate in all forms in English to a professional level.
• The ability to travel to potentially remote locations and access transportation related infrastructure such as buildings, gantries, bridges and line of route railways, occasionally at night or at weekends. A driving licence is preferred but not essential.
• Knowledge or experience in the application of Eurocodes, Network Rail and highways standards is desirable.
