The job: As our Hardware Firmware Engineer , you will develop hardware and firmware solutions for new products that meet specifications and customer and market expectations. Your day-to-day work will focus on designing hardware for embedded control applications, integrating embedded products into end-use control products, and integrating firmware into embedded hardware. You will work throughout the product development lifecycle, from specifications and circuit design through prototyping, testing, validation, documentation, and manufacturing integration. You will also provide technical and sustaining engineering support for existing products and collaborate with internal teams and external customers to create new products and further develop existing product lines. Your work will include: Designing embedded controller applications, including specifications, circuit design, schematic generation, BOM generation, parts sourcing, prototyping, verification and validation testing, manufacturing integration, and design documentation. Providing technical and sustaining engineering support for existing designs and applications, including product updates and parts obsolescence. Assisting with the development and maintenance of hardware design standards and procedures for standard components and blocks, layout, documentation, testing, and company-wide design methods. Providing technical support to the Technical Support and PCA production teams. Developing embedded firmware, including functional specifications, application architecture, design reviews, coding, debugging, validation testing, and documentation. Writing embedded firmware in C or C++. Assisting with the development and maintenance of firmware design standards and procedures for structure, documentation, revision control, testing, and development methods. Designing control panels incorporating embedded control devices. Developing application specifications and applications that meet internal or customer requirements. Testing and updating applications as required by testing standards and operating system revisions. Leading project teams, planning and quoting projects, achieving project goals and scheduled dates, and communicating project status. Partnering with Marketing, Sales, and external customers to create new product lines and support the continued development of existing products. Staying current on technology trends, components, firmware platforms, and other technologies appropriate for our customer markets and products. The skills, education, and experience you need: To succeed in this role, you must have experience with: Designing and troubleshooting embedded electronics. Writing embedded firmware in C or C++. Designing control panels with embedded control devices. Working across hardware and firmware development. Troubleshooting embedded systems. Integrating embedded products into larger control solutions. Taking designs through prototyping, testing, validation, documentation, and manufacturing integration. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required, and 1-3 years of experience is preferred.
