Head Accountant

Location: Remote, Ukraine

Working hours: 2–3 hours overlap with California business hours (typically 18:00–22:00 Kyiv time)

Engagement: Ukrainian FOP, initial 3-month probation

We are looking for a Head Accountant to organize and manage the accounting function while remaining hands-on with key accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Organize accounting processes, controls, policies, and documentation.
• Own month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
• Oversee AP/AR, invoicing, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and inventory.
• Manage tax calculations, planning, and coordination with external CPA/tax advisors.
• Maintain internal controls and segregation of duties.
• Prepare accounting documentation for audits and due diligence.
• Support management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Improve accounting workflows and reduce manual errors.
• Manage and support the Billing & Accounting Specialist.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on accounting and month-end close experience.
• Ability to both build accounting processes and independently handle accounting tasks.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and ability to understand US GAAP differences.
• Experience with reconciliations, taxes, payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
• Good English for communication with US colleagues and external advisors.
• Strong spreadsheet and accounting-system skills.
• Basic experience using AI tools for accounting and documentation workflows.
