Role Purpose The Head of AI Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the AI Engineering capability across the Data & AI Practice. The role owns the engineering workforce, technical delivery excellence, capability development, and growth of the AI Engineering function, ensuring the practice can consistently deliver high-quality, scalable AI solutions for clients. As a member of the Practice Leadership Team, the role works closely with the Practice CTO, supporting solution development, bid activities, and technical sales, whilst maintaining primary accountability for engineering capability, resource leadership, and successful delivery outcomes. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Capability Lead, develop, and grow the AI Engineering capability across the practice. Build a high-performing team through recruitment, coaching, mentoring, and career development. Establish engineering standards, delivery methodologies, tooling, and best practices in AI delivery. Contribute to the overall strategy, performance, and growth of the Data & AI Practice as a leadership team member. Delivery Leadership Own technical delivery excellence across AI and GenAI engagements. Provide technical leadership and governance for complex programmes, ensuring quality, scalability, security, and customer satisfaction. Ensure development & adoption of modern engineering practices including AI engineering, MLOps, LLMOps, DevSecOps, and cloud-native delivery. Support programme delivery (hands-on engineering work & manager), assurance, technical risk management, and delivery recovery where required. Sales, Bids & Solution Support Partner with the Practice CTO and solutioning teams to support business development activities. Contribute technical expertise to bids, proposals, and client engagements. Author technical responses, delivery approaches, work package scope, cost estimates, and resource plans. Support client workshops and executive discussions, translating technical concepts into business outcomes and vice versa. Thought Leadership & Market Presence Act as a recognised AI Engineering leader internally and externally. Represent the practice at industry events, webinars, conferences, and client forums. Contribute to thought leadership, market insights, and the development of AI propositions.
