HEAD OF ENGINEERING & RACE ENGINEER

GT3 Endurance Racing

KCMG is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Engineering & Race Engineer to lead our engineering operation within high-performance GT3 endurance racing programmes.

This is a senior technical leadership position for an engineer who thrives in a competitive, data-driven environment and has the experience, authority and technical depth to lead a professional race engineering group from preparation and testing through to race execution.

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the KCMG engineering group, combining strategic engineering leadership with hands-on race engineering responsibilities.

THE ROLE

As Head of Engineering & Race Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical direction and performance of the engineering operation, ensuring the team operates at the highest possible standard both at the circuit and away from it.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the KCMG engineering group, establishing clear technical direction, standards and processes.
• Taking overall responsibility for race-car engineering, setup and performance.
• Acting as a senior race engineer and key engineering representative at race events.
• Leading pre-event preparation, engineering planning and technical strategy.
• Developing and implementing race and endurance strategies in conjunction with the sporting and driver teams.
• Managing vehicle performance analysis, data acquisition and engineering systems.
• Leading setup development and optimisation across varying Nürburgring conditions.
• Directing engineering activities during testing and official running.
• Using vehicle data, driver feedback and simulation tools to identify performance opportunities.
• Coordinating engineers across vehicle dynamics, data, performance and trackside operations.
• Ensuring effective communication between engineering, drivers, mechanics, management and technical partners.
• Developing engineering procedures, reporting structures and technical workflows.
• Reviewing performance after each session and translating data into actionable engineering decisions.
• Maintaining a high level of technical preparation for endurance events, including reliability, consistency and operational robustness.
• Supporting long-term performance development of the GT3 programme.
• Remaining calm, decisive and technically rigorous under the pressure of endurance racing.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for a senior motorsport engineering leader with a proven record of operating successfully at a high level of competition.

You will ideally have:

• Significant professional experience in GT, endurance or comparable high-level motorsport.
• Proven experience as a Race Engineer, ideally within a GT3 environment.
• Previous responsibility for leading or managing an engineering group.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, race-car setup and performance optimisation.
• Extensive experience with motorsport data acquisition and analysis.
• Strong understanding of tyre behaviour, vehicle balance and endurance performance.
• Experience developing race strategies for long-distance events.
• A proven ability to work effectively with professional drivers and extract meaningful performance feedback.
• Experience leading testing and structured performance development programmes.
• Excellent technical communication and leadership skills.
• The ability to make fast, well-reasoned decisions in high-pressure situations.
• A highly organised and methodical approach to engineering preparation.
• A genuine performance mindset and the ability to challenge established thinking.

Experience of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and endurance racing would be highly advantageous.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This is not simply a race engineering position.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership.

You will be expected to set the engineering standard, lead the group, challenge performance, develop people and processes, and ultimately ensure that the car and engineering operation arrive at every event fully prepared to compete at the front.
