Role Description The Head of Engineering is a full-time, hybrid role based in Malaysia, with flexibility for some work from home. This role leads the engineering organization, setting technical direction, defining architecture, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of JomeInvoice’s middleware platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and mentoring engineering teams, overseeing software development lifecycles, and collaborating closely with product, operations, and compliance teams to deliver features aligned with LHDN requirements and customer needs. The Head of Engineering will drive best practices in coding, testing, automation, and DevOps, establish metrics for performance and quality, and continuously improve development processes. This role also plays a key part in hiring, workforce planning, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams, with responsibility for technical strategy, architecture, and delivery in a SaaS or middleware environment.
• Strong background in software engineering, including modern web technologies, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing automation, and performance monitoring.
• Experience working with or designing systems that handle financial, invoicing, or compliance-related data; familiarity with regulatory environments is an advantage.
• Ability to translate business and product requirements into clear technical roadmaps and actionable plans.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
• Track record of building and mentoring diverse, high-performing engineering teams and establishing effective processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• Comfort working in a hybrid environment in Malaysia, with the ability to coordinate distributed team members effectively.
