About DIGI2AL DIGI2AL is an employee-owned defense-focused digital services consultancy. A vendor-agnostic UK Crown Commercial Services accredited supplier, we have delivered over 120 cloud-hosted digital services across the public sector, working in partnership with clients to research and develop outcomes and services spanning artificial intelligence, data science, low code and complex code software engineering, cyber security, cloud engineering, and user-centred design. At DIGI2AL, our technology values drive everything we do. We are committed to open, contemporary and secure solutions that put users first. We embrace cutting-edge technologies while ensuring interoperability, resilience and ethical innovation. By prioritising transparency, adaptability and security, we enable organisations to build future-proof digital services that deliver real impact. Role purpose To lead DIGI2AL’s internal technology function, ensuring the organisation’s systems, tooling and technology services support secure growth, operational efficiency and an exceptional employee experience. The Head of IT is responsible for shaping and delivering the company’s technology roadmap, maintaining a secure and resilient technology environment, and enabling the effective adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools and automation, to improve collaboration, productivity and business performance. What you’ll be doing Whilst this role carries ownership of the company’s IT function, it remains a hands-on position. The successful candidate will be expected to both set direction and roll their sleeves up to deliver. There are no planned direct reports in the short term, so success in this role will require equal comfort operating at both strategic and operational levels. Technology Strategy & Governance Define and maintain DIGI2AL’s internal technology strategy and roadmap. Ensure technology investments support the company’s growth, productivity and operational objectives. Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation, AI and modern workplace technologies. Establish and maintain appropriate technology governance, standards and policies. IT Operations & Service Management Lead the delivery of reliable, secure and efficient IT services across the business. Maintain responsibility for the day-to-day administration and operation of the company’s technology platforms and end-user environments. Ensure employees have the tools, systems and support required to work effectively. Manage onboarding, offboarding, device lifecycle management and user access controls. Productivity, Collaboration & Automation Own the company’s productivity and collaboration technology ecosystem. Drive adoption of tools and practices that improve employee productivity and organisational effectiveness. Evaluate and implement opportunities for automation and AI-enabled ways of working. Promote effective use of technology across the organisation through training, guidance and support. Security & Compliance Ensure appropriate technical controls are implemented and maintained to support the company’s security and compliance obligations. Support ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and other assurance activities through effective technology management. Manage endpoint protection, identity management, access controls and security tooling. Work closely with the Head of Compliance & Assurance to maintain a secure and resilient technology environment. Supplier & Vendor Management Manage relationships with technology suppliers, service providers and support partners. Monitor supplier performance and ensure services deliver value, reliability and security. Support technology procurement, licence management and budget planning activities. The experience you’ll bring Essential Experience leading significant IT initiatives and taking ownership of technology outcomes within a growing organisation. Strong experience with Microsoft 365, cloud-based collaboration tools and modern workplace technologies. Experience implementing and maintaining cyber security controls and endpoint management solutions. Experience managing technology suppliers and third-party service providers. Experience developing technology roadmaps and delivering technology-enabled business improvements. Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Experience within defence, government or other regulated environments. Experience supporting ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus or similar frameworks. Experience with AI, automation and productivity tooling. Experience supporting both Microsoft and Apple device estates. Relevant Microsoft, cyber security or IT management certifications. Your personal qualities This is not a traditional corporate Head of IT role. We are looking for someone who can think strategically, operate independently and remain hands-on when required. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable shaping technology direction, influencing senior stakeholders and delivering practical solutions. Ownership and accountability Pragmatic decision-making Hands-on leadership Curiosity and continuous improvement Strong stakeholder management This role will be hybrid, with 3+ days per week in the London office. Minimum security level required for this role is SC; candidates must be willing to undergo this security check.
