Location: Remote (UK) with occasional travel

Salary: £90,000 - £150,000

The Opportunity

My client is a market-leading logistics and supply chain operator, providing freight forwarding, transport and warehousing solutions across the UK and international markets. Operating in a fast-moving sector that sits at the heart of global trade, the business has built a strong reputation for service excellence, innovation and growth.

This is a newly created position designed to elevate the organisation's profile across national, business, broadcast and trade media. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the wider leadership team, the successful candidate will shape the company's external narrative, identify media opportunities, secure high-profile coverage and become one of the business's key public-facing spokespeople.

The role offers a rare opportunity to build a function from the ground up while working directly alongside senior decision-makers in a commercially successful and ambitious organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations & Reputation Building

  • Develop and deliver the organisation's PR and corporate affairs strategy.
  • Act as a key external spokesperson across broadcast, print, digital and trade media.
  • Identify emerging news, policy and industry developments that create opportunities for the business to contribute expert commentary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers and industry influencers.
  • Secure high-quality media coverage across national, business, broadcast and sector-specific outlets.
  • Manage reactive media enquiries while proactively generating opportunities for coverage and commentary.

Thought Leadership & Executive Profiling

  • Develop and continually refine the company's corporate narrative and external positioning.
  • Create thought leadership programmes that raise the profile of both the business and its leadership team.
  • Translate complex commercial and industry topics into compelling media stories and commentary.
  • Draft opinion pieces, briefing materials, key messaging documents and executive content.
  • Identify opportunities for interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, roundtables and industry events.

Strategic Communications

  • Act as a trusted communications adviser to senior leadership.
  • Prepare executives for media interviews and public appearances.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging across all external communications activity.
  • Work closely with marketing and business leaders to align communications with wider organisational objectives.
  • Support reputation-building initiatives across the company's UK and international operations.

About You

This role will suit a highly credible communications professional who combines strategic thinking with exceptional hands-on delivery.

Key experience:

  • Significant experience within PR, corporate communications, corporate affairs or media relations.
  • A proven track record of securing top-tier coverage across national, business, broadcast and trade media.
  • Experience acting as a spokesperson or public representative for an organisation.
  • Strong thought leadership and executive profiling expertise.
  • Excellent media interviewing and presentation skills.
  • A strong understanding of how newsrooms operate and what makes a compelling story.
  • The ability to identify opportunities quickly and convert them into meaningful media outcomes.
  • Experience operating confidently with senior executives and stakeholders.

Sector experience is welcomed but is not considered essential. The client is primarily focused on identifying an exceptional communicator with strong media instincts, commercial awareness and the credibility to represent a major business externally.

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be:

  • Commercially minded and intellectually curious.
  • Proactive and highly self-sufficient.
  • Calm, credible and confident under pressure.
  • Direct, pragmatic and solutions-focused.
  • Comfortable working autonomously within a remote environment.
  • Strong at influencing and building trust with senior stakeholders.
  • Equally comfortable developing strategy and executing activity themselves.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to create and shape a newly established function.
  • Direct access to the CEO and senior leadership team.
  • Significant influence and visibility within the organisation.
  • High-profile media and thought leadership remit.
  • Remote-first working environment with flexibility and autonomy.
  • Opportunity to become a recognised voice within a major UK business.
