Role Description This is a full-time remote role for Spanish–English Medical Interpreters providing Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI). Day-to-day responsibilities include accurately interpreting medical encounters between healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring clarity and completeness of communication in both Spanish and English. Interpreters will follow industry standards and confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA, while managing calls and video sessions through the company’s proprietary systems. The role involves preparing for sessions by reviewing relevant terminology, maintaining professionalism and neutrality, documenting work as required, and participating in ongoing training through web-based resources. Team members are expected to be available for scheduled shifts, collaborate with coordinators and support staff, and deliver consistent, high-quality language services. Qualifications
Strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills for Spanish–English clinical encounters.
Proficiency in Medical Terminology related to healthcare settings in both languages.
Ability to perform Simultaneous Interpretation when required, while maintaining accuracy and neutrality.
Competence in Translation for short medical-related documents or patient information when needed.
Fluent, professional-level Spanish and English, with clear pronunciation and active listening skills.
Previous experience as a medical interpreter, preferably in OPI or VRI environments.
Familiarity with HIPAA or equivalent privacy regulations and strict adherence to confidentiality.
Comfort using cloud-based platforms, video-conferencing tools, and basic computer applications.
Reliable high-speed internet connection, suitable headset, and a quiet, secure work environment.
Relevant interpreter training, certification, or coursework (e.g., medical interpreting programs) is highly beneficial.
Ability to work full-time remote shifts, manage time effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and a commitment to unbiased, respectful communication.
