The role

  • We are looking for a Housing Officer to provide day-to-day housing management services for tenants living in specialised supported housing, helping to sustain tenancies and deliver a high-quality service.
  • You will manage a range of housing management activities including tenancy sign-ups, void management, low-level anti-social behaviour, tenancy sustainment, tenancy breaches and ending tenancies.
  • You will provide tenancy management services to tenants, dealing with low-level tenancy enforcement issues and liaising with the Community Safety Team to refer more complex cases where needed.
  • You will also support other teams with income collection and additional works, such as aids and adaptations requests, and provide key information to the Supported Living Housing Manager for performance reporting.
  • You will carry out regular property visits every 6 months, supporting the effective re-letting of void properties, monitor rechargeable repairs and help ensure housing schemes are managed in line with agreements, standards and service requirements.
  • You will build effective relationships with tenants, support providers, referral agencies, commissioners, local authorities and internal teams, working collaboratively to resolve housing management issues and promote a positive image of Reside with Progress.
  • This is a flexible, home-based role covering Cardiff, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Bournemouth, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, so regular travel across these areas will be required. Overnight stays may be required. The role would suit someone based centrally within the wider patch. There will also be a requirement to attend Group offices as and when required for training, face-to-face meetings and induction.

Essential

What we’re looking for

  • Two years’ experience in housing management or specialised supported housing.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • A UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
  • An understanding of customer care and a commitment to providing quality services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, tenants or their representatives, support providers and partner organisations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an agile team, work under pressure and to deadlines, keep accurate records and update housing management systems as required.
  • Computer literacy and experience of using housing management systems.

Desirable

  • Chartered Institute of Housing qualification, or willingness to study to at least Level 4.
  • Knowledge of the needs of tenants living in specialised supported housing.
  • Experience of submitting benefit claims.
