Our team at the First Nation Lands Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) is cutting edge, dedicated and experienced in assisting First Nations with developing workable solutions to the everyday challenges of community led lands and resources governance. We are currently searching for a motivated and qualified candidate to fill an HR Coordinator position within our administration unit. CURRENT POSITIONS BEING STAFFED: 1 • Location –Within Canada, to be determined based on the successful candidate. ABOUT US As part of the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management (Framework Agreement), the Lands Advisory Board (LAB) and the First Nations Land Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) provide political and technical support to developmental and operational First Nations. The developmental process under the Framework Agreement consists of a series of activities including the drafting of community land codes, implementing communication strategies and community voting procedures, as well as finalizing Individual Agreements with Canada. Once a First Nation ratifies its Land Code and becomes operational, the LAB and FNLMRC provide various support services such as training, assisting/advising with drafting land laws, rules, procedures, agreements, instruments, as well as implementing land governance systems and facilitating agreements and other arrangements with municipal, provincial, federal or First Nation governments. For additional information please visit www.labrc.com ABOUT THE POSITION The HR Coordinator will support the HR Advisor and the Director of Administration with, ensuring the smooth functioning of transactional HR operations for the organization by supporting a variety of employment-related activities. This may include employee recruitment and retention, employee training and development, health and safety, policy and procedures implementation, benefits support, and other HR processes support. The following is an overview of the key responsibilities for this position but may not be all-inclusive. • Supports the HR Advisor, as needed to develop and administer HR policies, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic business plan; • Coordinates recruitment activities for the organization including job postings, candidate follow up, background checks, interview scheduling, and so on; • Assists with providing training to employees on policy updates and other HR related activities, as needed; • Assists with the RC’s benefit services including new employee enrollment, updates and staff inquiries as needed; • Assists with new employee orientation; • Maintains up to date employee files; comfortable using SharePoint • Assists with RC website personnel updates • Ensures accurate employee timecard entries • Any other related work in keeping with the RC’s responsibilities in implementing the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS To be considered for the position identified above, please demonstrate how you meet the following essential criteria: • Completion of post-secondary education in HR or a related field (a combination of related education and experience may be considered). • Relevant experience, preferably in a federally regulated work environment. • Proficiency with software programs such as Office 365, Adobe, Zoom, Teams, VISIO, SharePoint & ADP. The following essential requirements will be assessed at a later date, either through an interview, written assessment and/or reference checks: • Knowledge of best practices and current trends in human resources management • Knowledge of employment legislation with a focus on federally regulated workplaces • Familiarity of First Nations culture • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Must be highly organized, with a strong attention to detail • Must be self-motivated with strong time management skills • Ability to use various computer software programs • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships • Ability to exercise good judgement • Ability to maintain confidentiality ASSETS If you meet any of the following, please explain how you meet these asset criteria • Knowledge of ADP workforce now • Bilingual (English/French) OTHER • Must be willing to travel occasionally. • Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable personal vehicle. • Candidate must work from a home office environment and be centrally located to facilitate travel. PREFERENCE - Due to the amount of work with First Nation communities, preference may be given to candidates with First Nations ancestry. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT - Satisfactory criminal records check and education verification.
