Wiltshire Council utilises a ‘Hub & Spoke’ model of service, staffed by highly skilled and competent AMHPs who always aim to maximise the independence of service users. The Service has a clarity of process, a proactive and preventative approach and it works effectively with partner agencies. The role of the team is to provide the statutory AMHP function on behalf of the Council. The Team ensures referrals for Mental Health Act related work are managed appropriately. This includes undertaking assessments under the Act, dealing with Nearest Relative related work, and managing CTO and Guardianship related work. The Service is county wide with offices co-located on Hospital sites in Devizes and Salisbury. As a Hub AMHP, you will work with your colleagues to ensure all enquiries and referrals are responded to appropriately. You will need to undertake assessments under the Act when appropriate but also record clearly when referrals and/or assessments are not progressed. You will be involved in CTO work, Guardianship work as well as mental health ‘Breathing Space’ work. Your role will include you undertaking the AMHP Triage role from time to time. To be successful in this role you will have a recognised and relevant professional qualification (i.e. Degree/Diploma in Social Work or equivalent) and be registered with your professional body. You will be a qualified and experienced AMHP. You will have expert knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act, the Care Act and other relevant legislation. You will have a significant understanding and awareness of mental health, AMHP practice and emerging developments in these fields. Why us? Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Find out more about Our Identity, staff networks, and employee benefits here . Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer‑facing roles work entirely from their service location. We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
