Apply Description About HVSP Hudson Valley Service Providers (HVSP) is a coalition of 26 nonprofit agencies dedicated to supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Our member organizations deliver essential services including residential supports, day programs, employment services, community integration, clinical supports, and advocacy for people with I/DD and their families. HVSP provides regional leadership, collaborates on system-wide initiatives, and serves as a unified voice to government and community stakeholders. Position Summary HVSP seeks a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Director to lead the coalition’s advocacy, collaboration, and regional initiatives. The Director is responsible for developing and coordinating government and legislative advocacy efforts, managing member and board meetings, overseeing inter-agency projects, leading subject-matter subcommittees, and planning and executing regional events. This role requires exceptional communication, organizational leadership, and the ability to build strong partnerships across member agencies, government officials, and stakeholders within the I/DD community. This is a part-time position, 15 - 20 hours per week, hybrid remote with local travel required (reimbursable mileage). Key Responsibilities Lead HVSP’s advocacy strategy with federal, state, and local government entities, including OPWDD, DOH, and other government offices and elected officials. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the I/DD sector and communicate impacts to member agencies. Represent HVSP at legislative hearings, policy meetings, workgroups, and statewide coalitions. Develop position statements, advocacy materials, and action alerts in collaboration with member agencies. Facilitate collaboration among the member agencies to advance shared goals and initiatives. Assist Chair in organizing and leading monthly member meetings; prepare agendas, materials, and follow-up actions. Serve as the primary point of coordination for agency executives, board representatives, and community partners. Maintain strong relationships with member organizations and foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and collective impact. Establish, support, and oversee subject-matter subcommittees (e.g., Clinical Services, Residential Supports, Workforce Development, Compliance, Employment Services, etc.). Ensure effective communication between subcommittees and the broader membership. Track progress on joint initiatives and facilitate alignment across workgroups. Lead planning and execution of collaborative projects across agencies (shared services, workforce initiatives, training opportunities, grant programs, or regional service enhancements). Support development of joint proposals, reports, and inter-agency agreements. Coordinate multi-agency responses to statewide initiatives and regional challenges. Plan or assist in planning and executing HVSP events, including conferences, roundtables, symposiums, workforce fairs, and community awareness events. Manage logistics, speakers, vendors, budgets, and post-event evaluations. Represent HVSP at community events, statewide meetings, and sector conferences. Work closely with the HVSP Board of Directors; prepare meeting materials, strategic updates, and recommendations. Support board governance functions, including strategic planning and policy development. Requirements Required Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or a related field. Minimum 5–7 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, coalition management, government relations, I/DD services, or related fields. Strong understanding of New York State’s I/DD service system, regulatory environment, advocacy, and political landscape. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate diverse stakeholders. Strong meeting facilitation, writing, and public speaking skills. Preferred Master’s degree in relevant field. Experience working within a provider agency, association, or government office tied to the I/DD sector. Knowledge of OPWDD service models, funding structures, and regulatory frameworks. Experience with event planning, coalition advocacy, or public policy campaigns. Salary Description $45.00 - $65.00 per hour
