Human Resources Advisor – Employment Relations People Performance and Culture | Ellerslie, Auckland Mō mātou | About us Te Roopu Taurima is a kaupapa Māori organisation supporting people with intellectual impairments and/or mental health needs across Aotearoa. Our work is grounded in manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services. Mō te tūranga | About the role We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to provide technical employment relations and HR legal advice and support strong, consistent people practices across the organisation. This role is hands-on and advisory, with a strong focus on: Managing end-to-end employment relations cases Providing legally sound, practical HR advice Building the capability of our people leaders to effectively manage ER matters Working closely with the HR Business Partner, you will ensure people practices are legally compliant, defensible, and aligned with organisational values. Ngā mahi matua | Key responsibilities Technical HR & ER Advisory Provide high-quality, timely advice on employment relations, performance management, and workplace issues Ensure all advice is grounded in NZ employment legislation, policy, and best practice Identify and manage legal, reputational and operational risk, escalating where required End-to-End ER Case Management Lead and support ER matters from initial issue through to outcome Conduct or support investigations, ensuring procedural fairness and natural justice Draft and quality assure documentation (letters, summaries, risk assessments, outcomes) Ensure all cases are well-documented, auditable, and legally robust Manager Capability Building Coach and support people leaders to confidently manage ER situations Promote early intervention and informal resolution where appropriate Strengthen manager self-sufficiency while ensuring consistency and compliance Continuous Improvement & Insight Contribute to policy, process and ER practice improvements Analyse trends and provide insights to support proactive people management Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | What you’ll bring Strong experience managing end-to-end employment relations cases Solid working knowledge of New Zealand employment law frameworks Proven ability to provide clear, practical and legally sound advice Sound judgement, with the ability to assess and escalate risk appropriately Experience preparing high-quality, defensible ER documentation Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with leaders Ability to coach and develop managers to lift capability and confidence High level of organisation and attention to detail You’ll also bring: An inclusive, approachable style Cultural competence, including an understanding of tikanga Māori and Pacific perspectives A collaborative approach, with the ability to work across a geographically dispersed organisation Ngā painga | What we offer The opportunity to work in a kaupapa Māori organisation making a real difference in the lives of our Tangata and communities A supportive and values-driven People and Culture team Variety, challenge and the ability to shape ER practice and manager capability Ongoing development and growth opportunities Free on-site parking at our Ellerslie (city fringe) location Generous holiday leave - 5 weeks’ Me pēhea te tono | How to apply If you are an experienced HR practioner with strong ER expertise and enjoy developing leaders while ensuring legal compliance, we would love to hear from you.
