Apply Job Type Full-time Description The HR Manager plays a critical role in shaping the employee experience and ensuring the success of VITAL WorkLife through strategic human resource management. As the organization’s sole HR practitioner, this role partners with the Finance and Administration team on quarterly and annual planning to align HR strategies and goals with organizational goals. This role is responsible for proactively attracting and hiring top talent, fostering a positive and innovative work environment, supporting employee development, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and ethical standards. The HR Manager will integrate new employees, promote operational efficiency, and uphold the company’s core values and brand reputation while contributing to the strategic growth of the organization. Requirements POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Attracting and Hiring Top Talent Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection — recruiting directly for select roles and partnering with external recruiting agencies for specialized or hard-to-fill positions, and maintaining those vendor relationships. Manage external HR vendors and staffing partnerships (including EOR relationships) Build and promote VITAL WorkLife’s employer brand to attract top talent and strengthen the organization’s reputation in the marketplace. Change Management & Organizational Communication Lead organizational change initiatives (e.g., workforce transitions, restructuring follow-through) with structured, multi-phase communication plans. Design and administer employee sentiment tools (pulse surveys, feedback loops) and translate results into leadership-ready recommendations and action plans. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on the pacing, tone, and sequencing of sensitive organizational communications. Workforce Development and Performance Lead the strategic workforce planning process and collaborate with the leadership team to align with company goals and budget. Analyze and refine the performance management system on an ongoing basis to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals. Work closely with leaders to ensure performance evaluations are conducted effectively and oversee performance improvement plans, or employee counseling as needed. Cultivate a learning organization by developing career development programs and training opportunities to support employee growth and retention. Culture and Employee Engagement Coordinate the annual culture survey and periodic pulse checks, analyze engagement metrics, and provide insights and recommendations to the leadership team to inform engagement initiatives. Own onboarding programs to ensure a consistent, welcoming experience that effectively integrates new employees and reflects VITAL WorkLife's culture. Oversee employee benefits programs to support well-being and satisfaction. Ensure competitive and equitable compensation structures aligned with industry benchmarks. Champion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives to foster an inclusive culture. Plan all-company events and recognition programs to celebrate achievements and milestones. Compliance and Ethical Standards Maintain and manage the HR information system for accurate and efficient employee data management. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Oversight of employee communications and act as the originator of any HR content sent to employees. Coach and advise leaders on employee issues and collaborate with legal team when necessary. Office Management and Administrative Support Manage expenses and the HR budget Prepare, set up, and debrief for large group administrative meetings, including in-person All Company Meetings, and virtual quarterly State of the Company Meetings and monthly Townhalls. Provide support for administration functions as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in related field. 5+ years experience in a Human Resource Generalist role or similar. Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and workforce development. Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices. Proficiency with HRIS systems and HR tools PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR) Experience working in a HIPAA-regulated environment, or a similarly regulated industry with strict compliance standards. Working knowledge of Entrepreneurial Operating Systems (EOS). Experience with Paylocity HRIS system CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS: Leadership qualities – able to motivate staff, have difficult conversations, support professional development, problem solve and work collaboratively with other leaders. Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment while handling multiple concurrent projects. Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills. Highly adaptable to accommodate personalities and work styles of coworkers to support our core value of collaboration. Technically adept and flexible. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (using Outlook/Calendar features), HRIS systems, and the ability to learn and troubleshoot other industry-specific software programs. Excellent written, verbal, organizational and administrative skills while maintaining diplomacy, tact and discretion, and an understanding of HIPAA. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Communicating with others to exchange information.
