Hydraulics Engineer / Civil Engineer — Volunteer, Pro Bono

Company Description Hearts for Change is a collective movement focused on expanding access to education for children in Kenya, currently supporting 180 kids to unlock their potential. The organization works to break the cycle of poverty through empowerment, providing opportunities rather than charity, and recognizing that every child can achieve meaningful goals with the right support. Founded on the vision that many small, aligned actions can create lasting impact, Hearts for Change engages individuals and organizations through donations, volunteer work, and partnerships.

Role Description Through our Run For Change campaign, we raised €3,000 to bring clean water to a school of 180 kids in Kenya — and we've hit the technical part of the project where we need expert input. We're looking for a civil engineer or hydraulics expert for a pro bono consultation (remote or on-site, a few hours of your time) to help us:

• Assess whether the well or the tap water is safer to filter
• Recommend the right filtration system for the context
• Check whether the existing pump has enough pressure, or needs replacing

This isn't a full-time or long-term commitment — it's a focused, practical consultation to help us make the right call before installation.

Qualifications

• Background in Civil, Hydraulic, or Environmental Engineering
• Experience with water systems, filtration, or pump/pressure assessment
• Comfortable giving practical recommendations for low-resource contexts
• Available for a short remote consultation (on-site optional, not required)
• Nonprofit or international development experience is a plus, not a requirement
