IBM z/OS Infrastructure Engineer – Sweden – Hybrid/Remote

Empiric are supporting a leading financial organisation on a critical IBM mainframe infrastructure requirement in Sweden.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced z/OS Infrastructure Engineer to join a highly skilled mainframe team responsible for the stability, availability and continued evolution of a business-critical z/OS environment.

You’ll be responsible for z/OS systems programming, software maintenance, operational support and platform improvements while collaborating with specialists across MQ, IMS, DB2, infrastructure and security.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on IBM z/OS systems programming or senior infrastructure experience.
• Proven experience installing, upgrading and maintaining mainframe software using SMP/E.
• Experience supporting z/OS and associated subsystems in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of mainframe security, including certificates, PKI, encryption and key management.
• Experience investigating incidents and supporting problem-management activities.
• Experience working within 24/7, high-availability environments.
• Ability to support planned infrastructure activities, major changes and datacentre operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and operational-support experience.
• A structured, proactive and ownership-driven approach.
• Ability to remain calm and methodical during critical incidents.

Nice to Haves

• Strong experience with one or more of MQ for z/OS, IMS or Db2.
• Experience integrating z/OS with distributed platforms and applications.
• Previous experience within banking, financial services or another regulated environment.
• Mainframe automation, monitoring and alerting experience.
• Knowledge of additional z/OS subsystems or middleware products.
• Experience supporting datacentre migrations, swaps or resilience testing.
• Scripting or automation experience using REXX, JCL or similar technologies.

Rate: Strong Day rate, dependent on experience
