Position Summary: As an Attorney on our Green Card Services team, you will be part of a team of Attorneys and Case Managers that help our global clients navigate the US immigration system. You will work on immigration matters including I-140 Immigrant petitions, I-485 Adjustment of Status (AOS) applications and/or Immigrant Visa Processing applications. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help companies, their international employees, and our individual High-Skilled Immigration (HSI) clients achieve their professional goals - it's truly rewarding work. This position can be fully remote from any U.S. location, or based in either our Troy, MI or Ann Arbor, MI office as an in-person or hybrid role. Please note - although this role can be remote, all work must be performed within the United States. What You’ll do: Under the direction of the practice team Director, you'll work with employers, their international employees, and HSI clients to develop and implement legal strategies for a variety of immigration matters Conduct in-depth conversations with clients to explain visa application processes and coordinate with clients to gather detailed supporting information and evidence Answer client questions about application process steps, timelines and costs Prepare and file green card related applications with the appropriate government offices, in collaboration with fellow Attorneys and Case Managers Prepare responses to Requests for Evidence issued by government agencies Research legal issues related to employment-based green card applications and stay informed on the latest immigration law developments Correspond with other Attorneys and Case Managers within the firm to assist clients with needs that transcend practice groups Perform other duties as assigned by management What Skills and Experience You’ll bring: 1-2+ years of experience working in the employment-based immigration field as an attorney. Experience preparing I-140 immigration petitions and I-485 AOS applications is preferable but not required Familiarity with the interplay between PERM Labor Certification concepts, nonimmigrant status concepts and I-140, AOS, and Immigrant Visa concepts Ability to prioritize and manage a busy caseload in an efficient manner and consistent with numerous inflexible legal deadlines Ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with team members Excellent communication skills, including the ability to break down complex legal concepts into language that is easy for clients to understand Possess patience to conduct frequent, and sometimes somewhat repetitive, educational correspondence and/or calls with clients summarizing their application processes and answering their questions High level of attention to detail, emotional intelligence, and empathy Ability to deliver highly responsive and proactive client service What We'll Provide to You: An opportunity to do challenging and highly rewarding work at a fast-growing firm with an inspiring mission An opportunity to join intelligent, creative, and dedicated immigration professionals who value respectful, collaborative working relationships Inclusive firm culture celebrating diverse perspectives, backgrounds, identities, and experiences People-centered workplace policies and flexible work schedules, including casual attire and remote work opportunities Competitive compensation, health/dental/vision/life insurance benefits, a 401(k)-retirement savings plan with employer-matching, and a generous paid-time-off policy Opportunity to enjoy complimentary international cuisine in the office.
