Role Description The In Patient Coder role is a full-time remote position responsible for accurately coding inpatient medical records in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing clinical documentation, assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensuring that coded data supports correct reimbursement and internal reporting. The In Patient Coder will collaborate with health information management staff and clinical teams to clarify documentation, resolve coding issues, and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. The role also involves staying current with coding updates, participating in quality audits, and contributing to process improvements that enhance data integrity and efficiency.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Medical Coding and Coding Experience, specifically in inpatient settings.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Health Information Management practices and standards.
• Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Medical Terminology and clinical documentation.
• Candidates should possess relevant credentials such as RHIT or comparable certification in health information or coding.
• Candidates should possess attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex clinical records.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with electronic health record systems and coding software, along with basic computer literacy.
• Candidates should possess effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Candidates should possess a background in healthcare or health information management, with prior inpatient coding experience preferred.
