The In Vivo Training & Validation Support Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and documenting technical training programs for research personnel, while concurrently providing hands-on technical support for laboratory equipment qualification as needed. This role ensures vivarium staff are proficient in animal bio methodologies and that all critical equipment used in animal research is verified and maintained in compliance with institutional guidelines (e.g., GLP, IACUC, AAALAC). Reporting to the In Vivo Training Coordinator, this position works closely with technical staff, trainers, study teams, veterinary staff, and quality personnel to ensure staff proficiency, accurate training records, and compliance with company procedures and regulatory expectations. This role serves as a key resource for training logistics, qualification tracking, procedural observations, and documentation management to support a skilled and compliant workforce. While this role executes equipment validation testing and drafts protocols for animal research-related activities, final regulatory accountability and sign-off rest with Study Directors and Test Facility Management. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s or associate degree in a life science field with 5+ years of lab animal experience, OR a High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of advanced in vivo technical laboratory experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to train on all basic biomethodologies in laboratory rodents and nonhuman primates including but not limited to handling and restraint, dosing (i.e. PO, SC, IP, IV), blood collection, and/or necropsies. Must be able to develop new procedures in collaboration with the Associate Director-In Vivo Services, Pre-Clinical Operations and the veterinary staff. Proven experience performing in vivo technical procedures and use of multiple computer-based applications including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, graphics and presentation software, email and other office technologies Ability to support and execute basic and complex technical research procedures in multiple laboratory animal species as needed Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, investigators, IACUC members, and regulatory representatives Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities Patience, effective communication, and flexibility to train staff on techniques with varying technical skills and levels of confidence. Travel: Ability to accommodate evening, overnight or weekend travel, including potential extended trips to attend training, meetings, conduct fieldwork, or meet with clients. Work Environment: This is a hybrid position with a combination of remote and on-site work that is based on business and training program needs. Immunizations and Screenings: This position requires access to regulated animal facilities (e.g. Non-Human Primates, Rabbits, Rats, Mice). Enrollment in the organization’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and compliance with all medical surveillance requirements is required. The ability to obtain and maintain all required occupational health clearances is a condition of employment. Medical surveillance may include, but is not limited to, tetanus vaccination, measles immunity, tuberculosis screening, and other vaccinations or medical clearances associated with work involving laboratory animals, biological agents or other occupational hazards. Essential Status: This position may be required to go on-site during company closures to sustain the life and care of animals/biological materials. Examples of company closures include snow days, special shutdowns, etc. Vision: Ability to distinguish between different colors (normal color vision). Ability to see clearly at various distances. Adequate near vision for reading documents or lab equipment. Ability to focus and maintain concentration in tasks for extended periods. Ability to work in environments with varying light conditions.
