Infrastructure Technician

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Analyst to support a major transformation programme, consolidating multiple accountancy firms into a centralised Microsoft Azure environment. This role will play a key part in migrating diverse legacy infrastructures (including on-premises and existing cloud estates) into a unified, secure, and scalable Azure platform. The contractor will work closely with internal IT teams, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient transitions. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain Nutanix, Windows Server, Citrix and wider infrastructure, ensuring performance, capacity, availability and security. Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and key business applications. Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN and routing. Plan and deliver infrastructure upgrades, migrations and modernisation, including migration of servers, virtual machines, storage, file services and applications to Azure. Support tenant consolidation, identity integration and hybrid/cloud transformation across multiple entities. Assess and document existing on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments, developing appropriate migration strategies. Provide Level 3 technical support, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and maintain security, compliance and governance standards. Work with project stakeholders to manage migration projects, risks and documentation, providing technical handover and knowledge transfer to internal teams. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Virtual Machines, Networking, Storage, Azure Migrate and Entra ID. Proven experience delivering infrastructure migration and transformation projects, including migrations from VMware/Hyper-V and existing cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. Strong understanding of networking, VPNs, firewalls, routing, cloud security, backup and disaster recovery. Experience with Microsoft 365 tenant migrations, identity management and hybrid environments. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues. Good understanding of security, resilience, availability and governance within enterprise IT environments.
