Competitive Salary: Band 5 - $86,360 pro rata + 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the City Development Directorate as an Infringement Review Officer within the Amenity Protection Team. This fixed term position plays a key role in ensuring the fair, transparent and consistent administration of infringement reviews.

Reporting to the Coordinator Projects and Business Support, the Infringement Review Officer works closely with the Amenity Protection Team and other internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality infringement review services. The role is responsible for assessing appeals and complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies, and contributing to positive community outcomes through professional and impartial decision-making.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing timely, accurate and high-quality information and responses to customer enquiries via phone, email and written correspondence in accordance with Council standards.
  • Reviewing and assessing infringement appeals and complaints in a fair, transparent, consistent and impartial manner.
  • Applying relevant legislation, policies and guidelines to determine review outcomes and prepare clear written responses.
  • Developing and maintaining a sound working knowledge of infringement-related legislation, Council policies and enforcement processes.
  • Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to obtain information required to support review decisions.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all review activities are completed within statutory timeframes and service standards.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of infringement review processes and customer service outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Experience in conducting infringement reviews in accordance with procedural fairness and administrative law principles.
  • Office administration and extensive experience in document management and other software systems.
  • Knowledge of Local Laws, Infringements Act 2006, Road Safety Act and Victorian Road Rules, Tobacco Act and other relevant legislation is desirable.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a team environment and foster a culture of exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with all external and internal stakeholders, and sound conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
