Job Title: Innovation Lab Technician Job Location: Gloucester Main Library Salary: £26,403 - £27,694 per annum Hours per Week: 37.00 Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 19/10/2026 Job Requisition Number: 14860 This post is not open to job share PAY AWARD PENDING AT 3.3% salary will increase to £27,274 - £28,608 per annum/pro rata for part time About The Team & Role Join Gloucestershire Libraries' Innovation Lab team and help inspire creativity, innovation and digital skills across the county. The Innovation Lab provides access to cutting-edge technology including 3D printing, virtual reality, digital design software and making equipment, supporting businesses, inventors, makers, families and community groups to turn ideas into reality. As an Innovation Lab Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the Lab's technology, equipment and services run smoothly while delivering excellent customer support. You will help members access equipment, deliver workshops and training sessions, support outreach activities and contribute to the development of new services and projects. This is a multi-site role, working across Innovation Lab locations and libraries throughout Gloucestershire. You will collaborate with library colleagues, volunteers, partners and customers to create engaging experiences that build confidence, creativity and digital skills. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys technology, problem-solving and helping people learn and innovate. About You We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual with strong technical aptitude and a passion for innovation. You will have experience using and troubleshooting digital technology and be confident supporting a wide range of users, from complete beginners to experienced makers and business customers. You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to balance customer support with technical responsibilities. A positive, flexible approach, willingness to learn new technologies and confidence delivering demonstrations, training or workshops are essential. Experience with technologies such as 3D printing, CAD, VR or maker equipment would be advantageous.
