Job description Looking for an exciting opportunity to join the newly established His Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) as an Inspection Administrator? As an HMIE Administrator, you will provide high quality administrative support across a programme of inspection and review activity within HMIE. You will play an important role in supporting inspections and reviews, helping the organisation deliver its strategic objectives. This is a key role in the delivery of HMIE's operational responsibilities and requires excellent communication and organisational skills. You will work closely with HM Inspectors, administrative leaders and colleagues, as well as external stakeholders such as local authorities, headteachers and education partners. The role reflects the importance of professional support in delivering scrutiny with impact and supporting improvement across Scottish education. Your main objective will be to ensure inspection and review activity is supported efficiently, accurately and professionally. Responsibilities Administer all aspects of inspections from notification through to publication of reports, including support for logistics and travel where required. Plan and manage workloads in line with inspection and review allocation schedules. Maintain records and data systems, including Excel, internal databases and records management tools, ensuring inspection progress is accurately tracked and accessible. Support HMIE reporting functions by collating and formatting inspection information for reporting and management information purposes. Maintain records for each inspection, including accurate digital filing, consistent document naming and up-to-date status information. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including Directors of Education, headteachers and support staff, responding to queries regarding the inspection process via email, telephone and webchat. If invited for further assessment, this will consist of an interview and presentation. Assessments are scheduled for w/c 14th September 2026 however this may be subject to change. Interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams. In the event of a high volume of applications, candidates will have their applications initially assessed against the Experience criteria above. Candidates who pass this initial sift will have their applications fully assessed against all criteria. At interview/assessment if there is a tied score, performance in the Experience criteria will be applied to determine merit order.
