Job Posting Title: Instructional Innovation Assistant (Open to graduate, undergraduate, non-work study, and work study) ---- Hiring Department: Red McCombs School of Business ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 10 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Dec 31, 2026 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: Purpose: McCombs School of Business is looking for a curious, organized, and dependable student employee to provide support for the McCombs Office of Instructional Innovation. The McCombs Office of Instructional Innovation (MOII) promotes efficient, innovative, and evidence-based teaching that enhances student learning. We support faculty and programs through initiatives that improve course quality, accessibility, and the effective use of educational technologies. MOII projects often have McCombs-wide and campus-wide impact, with a focus on continuous improvement and fostering a strong teaching community. The Instructional Innovation Assistant will assist with ensuring that our courses and instructional materials meet a high standard of quality and accessibility! In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience reviewing and improving course content across McCombs while supporting our team's mission to enhance teaching and learning. What You'll Gain Training and supervision in a professional higher education setting Hands-on experience supporting teaching and learning initiatives Transferable skills in quality assurance, accessibility, and educational technology Insight into how instructional innovation functions behind the scenes in a large academic unit Mentorship, professional development support, and potential for future references Membership on a small team with high-impact, broad connectivity across McCombs and campus Responsibilities: Quality assurance & course review Review Canvas courses and instructional materials that have already been built, using established checklists Provide feedback from a student perspective to improve usability and the learning experience Perform scoped Canvas quality checks (link checks, module sequencing, student view testing) Accessibility Clean and update closed captions and transcript files for compliance and clarity Review instructional videos for accessibility and consistency Support accessibility compliance reviews for course content, meeting UT and McCombs standards AI tools for quality assurance Explore and test emerging AI tools specifically as they apply to quality assurance, accessibility, and course-review workflows Document findings and provide feedback on usability, reliability, and practical applications for QA and accessibility work Share relevant insights with the team on how AI can support review and accessibility processes Documentation & templates Organize and audit existing process documentation, templates, and tutorials Draft new guides as needed Office & event support Help prepare materials and provide logistical support for faculty-facing events and meetings Create and distribute the weekly newsletter and promotional materials Required Qualifications: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established guidelines Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Interest in teaching and learning, educational technology, instructional design, or higher education operations Preferred Qualifications: Experience reviewing or creating digital content (e.g., courses, websites, videos, documents) Interest in accessibility, usability, or learning experience design Curiosity about AI tools and their applications in education Comfortable using Microsoft 365 and willing to learn new technologies Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems Experience working on collaborative projects in an academic or professional setting Hourly Rate: $15 Working Conditions: Work performed in standard office conditions. Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation. Hybrid modality with work on campus and remote Schedule Work Shift: 10-20 hours per week, schedule flexible around class commitments Position ends on Dec 2026, with option to extend Rehire eligible based on performance.
