WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE The Legal team is a collaborative group of trusted advisors who provide practical, business-focused guidance across Calgary Airports. While team members have specialized areas of expertise, they work closely together, sharing knowledge and partnering across the organization to support sound decision-making, risk management, and organizational success. As the Insurance Program Manager, you'll work alongside legal professionals and business leaders, bringing specialized insurance and risk expertise to complex operational, commercial, and strategic initiatives. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and coordinate Calgary Airports' insurance program, including policy structures, coverage administration, and governance requirements. Support the development and implementation of insurance strategies to ensure effective risk transfer aligned with organizational objectives. Play a lead coordination role in the CARIE and CARMaG programs supporting insurance activities across multiple Canadian airport authorities. Serves as primary contact for the CARIE insurance reciprocal. Act as a central point of coordination between member airports, brokers, insurers, actuaries, and governance bodies. Manage the annual insurance renewal process, including coordinating submissions, evaluating program options, and recommending coverage decisions. Review insurance requirements for capital projects, contracts, and operational risks and provide recommendations regarding coverage requirements. Serve as a subject matter resource and advisor to Finance, Legal, and business leaders, providing expert guidance on insurance strategy, risk exposure, and coverage implications. Support decision-making on major initiatives by assessing insurance impacts related to capital programs, infrastructure, and contractual arrangements. Manage relationships with brokers, insurers, actuaries, and external advisors to optimize program design, negotiate terms, and ensure service effectiveness. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING You’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don’t worry – we’ll help you through this! For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant insurance or risk management experience may be considered. Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Risk Management (CRM), or similar insurance or risk management designation. Advanced knowledge of corporate insurance programs, underwriting, claims management, risk transfer, and contractual insurance requirements typically acquired through a combination of education, professional development, and relevant experience. Understanding of commercial insurance principles, policy structures, coverage types, underwriting processes, claims management practices, and risk transfer methodologies. Expertise in enterprise risk management practices, including risk identification, exposure assessment, loss prevention, and mitigation strategies within complex operating environments. Familiarity with contractual risk transfer mechanisms, including insurance requirements, indemnity provisions, liability allocation, and risk-sharing arrangements in commercial agreements. Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, governance standards, Ground Lease obligations, and compliance practices impacting insurance program administration.
