About the Role As the Intake Officer – Child, Youth & Family, you'll coordinate referrals, placement matching and intake processes for children and young people entering our care. Working collaboratively with operational teams, carers and external stakeholders, you'll play a critical role in identifying safe, appropriate placements that meet each child's individual needs. You'll ensure referrals are managed efficiently, placement decisions are informed by best practice and CARE therapeutic principles, and carers receive the information and support they need during the placement process. This is a full-time, maximum-term contract until 1 January 2027 and is a work-from-home opportunity that can be based anywhere in Queensland Key Responsibilities Coordinate referral, intake and placement matching for children and young people entering care. Facilitate placement matching meetings and collaborate with Operational Managers, Therapeutic Practitioners, Cultural Support Planners, Carer Assessment & Engagement teams and other key stakeholders. Gather, assess and document referral information to support informed placement decisions and service allocation. Support carers through the initial stages of placement by providing relevant information about children's needs, routines, health and family connections. Ensure placement decisions align with the CARE therapeutic framework and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles where applicable. Manage funding applications relating to enhanced placements and additional support services. Maintain accurate client, placement and carer records across internal and external systems. Monitor placement capacity, vacancies and placement agreements while ensuring all documentation meets contractual and legislative requirements. Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver responsive, high-quality service outcomes. Contribute reporting and referral data to support service planning and carer attraction strategies. Skills & Experience You will bring: A relevant Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Work, Social Welfare or Psychology. Demonstrated experience within Child Protection, Out of Home Care or Child, Youth & Family Services. Experience coordinating placements or managing placement risk within family-based and/or residential care. Sound knowledge of the Queensland Child Protection system. Understanding of the impacts of trauma, abuse, neglect and family separation on children and young people. Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams while managing competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships. Experience using client management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously. Current Australian Driver Licence. Successful candidates will be required to complete all relevant probity checks, including a National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check where applicable.
